I'll get $1000 off mine for either the new graduate rebate northern military discount. I'm also betting this car will be in the 21-22k range since the new tc starts at 20k with180hp and a six speed.

All four current Scion models carry an 8% price premium over the US pricing which is very competitive for the Canadian market. The average markup for a Subaru in Canada is 40% over US pricing which makes buying a BRZ instead of an FRS TOTALLY FUCKING RETARDED.

Assuming the Fr-s is $22k to $23k in the US, then it will be $24 to 25K here. Good competition for the Genesis Coupe and Mustang v6 base.

Hyundai is probably the best for offering Cash rebates. I'm buying either the 2013 GC 2.0T or a 2013 FR-S. The GC will almost definitely have a $2400 cash rebate for the premium model at release.

Hyundai recognises the strength of the Canadian dollar and compensates for it with cash rebates.

Toyota/Lexus are the best. Almost every car is the same price as it is in the USA while Subaru shits in our mouths with their 40% markup.

Heh, seems like you're in the same boat as me :D I too was looking at the redesigned 2013 Gen coupe (2.0T with 270hp 270 ft/lb torque WOW) if this FRS is too expensive.

To add to that, the TC here is 8% more than in the US but on the Canadian forums I read that our Scion does come with a few more features standard.

Thank god we don't seem to be getting the shaft by Scion Canada.

I figure, since the base price for a BRZ is 24000 USD, the base price for an FRS wil be 21000 USD which translates to roughly 22500 CAD :D That would be pretty schwwweeeet.

We require daytime running lights so the lowest I think is possible is $23000 in Canada. If it's anywhere close to that I'll do backflips.

The manufacturer/dealer relationship is much more complex than just being buyers and sellers. People buy cars AT or below invoice regularly. Desirable cars too. This is all enabled by dealer holdbacks sales bonuses, etc...

Our dealership (VW) worked the same way. I was a lot 'tard for two years back in 05-07, and was friends with almost all of the sales guys. I knew they got kickbacks from the dealer for selling certain cars in certain trims within certain timeframes. I knew the dealer got kickbacks in the same exact way from the head office, I just didn't realize the grand scale of it all until I was having a beer with the ex-business manager a few months ago (another good friend of mine who quit right around when I did).

There was one guy who was extremely good at selling cars despite never wearing deodorant, dude could pump out 10-15 Jettas a month in a dealership that struggled to get the rest of the sales people to sell 5 of anything in that same time. Turns out he was getting $10k under the table every month he did this, and the dealer itself was getting a bonus much larger than that for that exact same reason, they had more product out on the street and could use the sales numbers to pump up the ads.

The scary part is that the sales department in almost every dealership regardless of make, is the sinking ship. Sales is almost always kept afloat by Service, who rely on Sales to get the volume of cars out to keep the repair money coming in strong.

Anyway....yeah, from what I understand about Scion-only dealers, the "Fair market pricing" means that they will never inflate the price of a car with false charges or "rarity" charges like everywhere else does. It doesn't mean you can't haggle the price, it just means they're not going to take a $21k MSRP car and try and sell it to you for $29k because there are only two of them on the lot.

Note to self. Do not wear deodorant if want to be successful in life.
