Any specs on the standard Audio setup?
This car ticks all the boxes for me - now if I can live with the standard stereo that would mean I could, for the first time ever, leave a car completely stock! Has anyone listened to the stereo in the GT86? Any specs available (no of speakers, power, subs?).

8 speakers. Specs were posted in the tech manual but I don't believe them to be accurate unless they measure speakers differently over in Japan. It looks to me from pics that we will see 6.75" woofer in each door, then on the dash firing at the windshield is a 3" mid and a .75" or so tweeter. Rear has what appears to be either a 4" or 5.25" in the side panel next to where the rear passengers sit. No details have been released but the Scion FR-S headunit appears to be the same one they put in all scions and the BRZ is some nav unit reportedly based on MTs info. I haven't seen an amp mentioned or pictures so I'd guess all head unit power (makes some sense anyways with Scions 'buy 28 different head unit choices!' selling model). |
6.75" for door speakers? Don't you mean 6.5" inch?
My car uses 6.5" in the front door and 6x8" in the rear . . . I want to make sure that I can swap the door speakers over to the AS1 if I buy them now. |

6.5s fit (generally speaking) in a 6.75 spec location. I've often seen the 6.75s being used with shallower mounting depths (ie same cone area, removing cone depth for diameter). |
Great. :thanks:
I still don't see the reasoning behind 8 speakers though, I'll likely only be using the front two... through an amp and a W8 tablet. I wonder if the audio-less model will still retain mounting holes for the door speakers. |

At what cost... component setups are expensive and I doubt factory is going to put in anything worthwhile... and I don't believe tweeters are as easy to fit as door speakers. Oh and less is more lol.

Low Spec: 16 cm front woofers
High Spec: 2,5 cm tweeters, 16 cm front woofers and maybe 8,5 cm rear mid-woofers. http://pressroom.toyota.com/images/S...4_2524_low.jpg They really look tiny. |

I was pleasantly surprised Pioneer not only provided the head unit for the tC, but the speakers as well, and while I've never been a fan of theirs, I've found the system adequate enough not to change it. Hopefully the same can be said for the FR-S. |

Low Spec: 6.5/6.74 but who cares, we won't see that. High Spec: Fr: 6.5/6.75" mid bass in the doors, 3" midrange in the dash and .75-1" tweeter in the dash (I'd guess a .75 is more likely though), rear probably 4", but maybe 5.25" with a really undersized grill.. I'll disconnect them anyways though so it doesn't matter what they are in the rear for me :P |

I'd love to just throw in a cheap subwoofer solution to enhance the low end (I mostly listen to rock and like to hear the lower freqs of a bass guitar, etc) and that's it :) Most of Pioneers stuff isn't that great, but their really good stuff is simply fantastic. |

I mainly listen to electro/house/dubstep/trance etc, and for some reason those genres show flaws in any audio system very noticeably. I was thinking if I get the low spec I could replace the door speakers with Alpine Type Rs, but you guys are convincing me otherwise  Im not even sure if the component setups will work with aftermarket speaker replacement. |

I don't plan on adding anything more than a cat-back on the FR-S (for now ;) ) so the OEM system will meet my needs. |
