No discount on MSRP?

I heard that many people are buying the FRS at around the MSRP price. Why? Is it because it's the 1st year model? Why such high mark up?

Well, for 1 yes with it being a first year vehicle their not taking off the MSRP. Also with scion every new vehicle they tend to not let the price fluctuate any what so ever. If you want a FR-S you'll be playing MSRP.

Yeah they aren't going to budge. They were made when I made them take more on my trade-in than what they should have. Quotas must be met though :happy0180:

It is what it is...

Scion pricing is like the way GM did with the Saturn...

The price is what it is... no haggling. The premise being that the MSRP reflects a value-price to begin with.

For those trading in.. this actually could work in their favor b/c when you try to get the sales manager to "deal off the invoice," they simply hold the line on what they would give you on the trade-in. The rule of thumb being that if you get a fantastic deal off the invoice, they won't give you top-dollar for the trade-in. And trying to work that kind of deal could take years off your life :-).

I believe there are still wait lists and mark ups in some areas. This one Subaru dealer has the BRZ which they let everyone test drive before pre-ordering for sale, still at full price.

Scion has a "Pure Price" policy where they cannot sell you the car for above or below MSRP, so I'm guessing the only way for them to make additional money off you is to stack on useless options (i.e. trunk mat, chrome wheels) or give you a high interest rate if you're financing from them.

price aint gonna budge esp since the car is so hot. Be prepared to pay msrp until you see them openly everywhere >.<

Dealers can set any price they want as long as it is consistent with all their cars of the same type. Pure Price has nothing to do with MSRP, Scion just so happens to sell at MSRP by dealers choice.

It says so right there on the Scion website.

Seems as though its wrong, I've got 600$ off my FRS :)

wrxgoose 01-16-2013 05:00 AM

i also managed to get money off. $500.

JDMenrique 01-16-2013 07:33 AM

Yep, I got $1000 off and a pretty good interest rate for being military.

fredk 01-16-2013 09:35 AM

I got $800 off msrp, it was thier advertised internet price, another local dealer was at msrp, but paid the first payment up to $500. You can get a little break, at least on FR-S's around here.

A dealer a few minutes from me actually has a red auto for sale at $2,000 less than msrp. Probably has to do with the fact that it's been sitting on the lot since september though.
