Colors easiest to keep clean yet looks good
 

Hi guys,

I am debating between blue, white or gray. Which color is best to maintain cleanliness and looks good where it shows off the lines if the car well?

I current have a white car but the pearl white looks good on the FRS. Never has a gray car and that blue looks super... The only thing about the blue is not sure how well it will age with the car... Not fading wise but will the blue look " old" after five years or so?

blue or grey i think would be easiest to clean. personally im not a fan of blue but i got nothing agaisnt any of the colors. so have your pick. my frs is black and it is a b#tch to keep clean. i like it show room shiny so i gotta wash it every other time i take it out of the garage. on top of that the last time i took it to the dealer for an oilchange they put swirl marks all over my bumper... sorry for going off the tracks lol

When you say gray do you mean asphalt (dark gray) or argento (silver)? Since the asphalt is metallic, it shows dirt really quickly. My parents live down a dirt road and I have to wash that car every time I visit.

If you're worried about the paint fading, you could always get paint protection.

White is always the best color to look clean and scratch free.

Silver is the second best color.

Dark colors - Gray, Black, Blue etc will generally show every bit of dirt, scratch, etc..

Gray would be easiest to clean (hard to see swirls too), and would look the least dirty when it is. Only thing for gray (in my opinion), it's hard to color match wheels with it. White shows lines and curves, and relatively easy to wipe down and make it look clean. But gets dirty in general, fast.

Mine is a silver (Argento), it hides everything, i wash mine every week but i can skip a week as long as long the weather is good,
if its a little dusty i use the quick detailer, the lines show perfectly with a slight shadow under them under the correct lighting too

But on your choice of colors i would go white, as long as you keep up with it

I'd say silver/gold colour hides dirt the best. Black is the worst. Black is also the sleekest IMHO.
I used to really like the Indigo colour on my TSX even though I don't usually dig blue cars. Ultramarine...meh.

My choice would be silver. Generally speaking lighter colors hide imperfections better.
As far as looking cleaner longer, again, silver.
Really shows off the lines better in almost all to near dark lighting scenarios.

My family and I have owned nearly every color of car on the market. Pearl white Cadillac, Blue Vette, Red Z, and a Grey tC. Being put in charge of detailing these cars, to my experience, white was the easiest color to keep clean. Blues and blacks are impossible. It was so frustrating to finish detailing our blue vette only to have it showing dirt minutes later. Red looks really sexy on a lot of cars and I've thought about getting the Fr-s in red, but I've seen too many red cars get destroyed by the sun and they never look as good as the day you bought them. I love the Fr-s in white, and will soon be getting one in whiteout. My favorite classic car is the 2000gt in white, and it just makes sense to get the Fr-s in white as well since these two cars share body lines. To each their own though, get what catches your eye. Don't look at colors too much, they will all start blending and confusion will only follow.

Agreed. Gray is lowest maint followed by silver and white. Black will swirl. Red will fade.

for a car, the rule of thumb is, the darker the color the dirtier it'll look when it has dirt on it. White is definitely the cleanest. I owned a white color I can go all winter without washing and it'll still look cleaner than a black car one week not washing.
