#1 is not completely true with the modern 8spd auto trannys in some vics...and for instance….the auto 12+ 5.0’s is a few tenths faster in the 1320 than the MT. But that’s neither here nor there...all my cars/trucks have been 4/5/6 spds.

There is a proper dual-clutch auto out there that I'd drive in a heartbeat over the MT version.

I've personally driven two different Cayman R's with 6MT and PDK, and ridden on track in a 987 S with PDK and flappy paddles, it's an incredibly good transmission, better than the MT I'd say for a track car where every split second counts.

It just shifts so damn fast, and the downshifts are buttery smooth under threshold braking. Driving a PDK with paddles keeps you that much more focused on driving at the limit, and it's just as much fun as the manual.

But for the FRS/BRZ, 6MT all the way :D

I'll agree with 3, 4 and 5. I don't care about 1 and I don't keep a car long enough to worry about 2.

& sometimes #6 - Protection from car thief. Some moron thief don't know how to drive MT LMAO

I'd like to expand #4 to include instilling a sense of responsibility in piloting a multi-thousand pound weapon.

#1 can be false if we're comparing to a properly designed CVT and ECU strategy, but CVT's almost always vacuum the fun out of the drive.

If you bought a stick for better fuel economy...:bellyroll:

Topic is a bit basis, manuals are great in some cars, meh in others(majority).

#1 Not necessarily true
#2 What's the expected service life of a modern auto?
#3 If you want to txt and drive a manual isn't going to stop you
#4 Only if this matters to you
#5 See point above
I don't understand the purpose of this thread. Is the op seeking confirmation of their own opinion? There are many people who enjoy their auto/pdk/flappy paddle gearbox. Pointless thread imo.

1-incorrect for fr-s
2-incorrect for challenger
3-people always find away to be stupid even if they have to drive with their knees
4-dont really feel accomplished by simple motor skill tasked, but maybe some people are.
5-I agree here, aside from in an hour of stop and go traffic...then I want to punch babies and puppies in the face.

Overall a terrible "blog" by a fly by night shy-sty "insurance" company

#1 is incorrect only b/c i love the way the engine sounds between 4-7k rpms, spinning the tires and whipping the rearend around when you hit second is way to fun, and i downshift more aggressivly.

my mpg has gone down since i got my tune. not b/c of the tune but b/c of how fun it is to drive.
