Sway Bar Mouting Brackets/Bolts Integrity
This is just a simple question directed to those that have beefier sways. How are the brackets/bolts/bolt holes/chasis holding up? In my experience with my previous two car's and a few of my friends cars, this is a weak point on production vehicles. I've seen everything from bushings disintegrating, threads stripping, brackets cracking, endlinks snapping etc.
How are the beefier sways holding up on this platform? |
The front hasn't shown to be an issue, either the mounts or endlinks. The rear I know on the 08+ WRX/STi Whiteline made a swaybar reinforcement bracket, but it looks pretty stout to me and I can't see someone putting a huge rear swaybar on this car. Both front and rear use decent sized bolts, in the front you have a nut and a bolt, you need to make sure you get the bolt lined up or else you could cross thread it.
One nice thing is if you did crossthread it, the swaybar brackets are bolted into the chassis by themselves, so it wouldn't be difficult to replace. With the other Subaru models the swaybar brackets are welded to the main front crossmember... |
Yeah I am used to the brackets being welded on. This puts my mind at ease a little bit.

Keep in mind the sways are much smaller than on other cars. The forces are much less than say, a Mustang or BMW.
I wouldn't be too concerned. |
