Socal: demand has slowed down?

First posting, been lurking here for awhile.

From dealer inventory level it looks like demand has slowed down in the Southland, at least on the Scion side.

I am exercising self-discipline to get at least the 2nd year of production. By that time, the "gold should have been purified" at only true enthusiasts last: likely there will be a supply of low mileage used FR-S.

I wonder how many people have a buyer remorse getting the twin to drag race their buddy's [insert name here].

It is a fun car. So much fun that I want to get it, but people expected this to be the second coming of Christ. It isn't. Second coming of Elvis? Maybe.

Cheers :happy0180:

Eh, think of it like this: would you mind driving a miata? If the answer is yes, this car probably isn't for you, if no then I doubt you'll have any regrets. That being said I doubt waiting for next model year will net you anything tangible, any fix to known issues will be applied to the '13 under warranty anyway and it's too soon for any kind of upgrade. If anything I wish I had bought mine sooner because of the $300 price hike and the $500 hit to the college graduate discount.

In terms of demand, the thing isn't worth a penny over MSRP in my opinion, others are more enamored as evidenced by ridiculous California pricing, find a dealer that won't screw you, it's worth it.

I know the car is for me. It is just light and fun. I want a stripper/base FR-S as a fun car. I have the patient to wait. Back in 2003, I got my Evo one year after it was released at invoice. It was on high demand when it was released in 2002 but when I got it in September 2003, the dealer I bought from had 24 in stock. I bought that "first year" because technically it wasn't the first year world wide. Pricewise, it doesn't really matter for Scion as they have non-negotiable pricing. A couple of dealers I have been in contact with basically won't mark me up (my philosophy is to never buy a car at MSRP, leave alone marked up: it is never worth it. To think of the poor bastards who buy marked up "special edition" Mustangs while Ford releases a new "special edition" like every 6 months or so). With the Twin, I am waiting for the bugs to be sorted out as it is made by Subaru and not Toyota. Even my GS had a first year bug: an occasional thunk nice from the sunroof that they needed to fix .... and I trust Toyota's build quality more than Subaru's.

... or if something comes up locally at 20ish in the next month or so:).

If anyone is looking, I've been seeing a white BRZ at the front of the sales lot at Thousand Oaks Subaru. Don't know the pricing or anything. I just see it on the way home. Haven't seen an FRS at any of the dealers I pass by. Then again, not really looking either.

Natural to have a decline in demand, but it's not significant enough of a decline. It's more like a 'burp' decline. Currently waiting for the high perf version of the FRS/BRZ myself

I am not holding my breath for a significant power update. Hopefully, there will be minor updates and sorting out of the early production "burp." Then, it is all over again and I am going to claw tooth and nail in the line to get the car with you :bonk:.
