what's your solution to reduce the wheel well gap?

in stock form, the wheel well gap looks too big for my taste. i wanna see what everyone here is doing about it? bigger wheel? lower car?

if we change to a bigger wheel, do we need to take it to the dealership to have the computer readjusted?

if we lower the car, do we need to get alignment done?

What's the cost of doing each?

Changing rim size will not really decrease the gap, and in some cases can make it look bigger (starts to get that 4x4 look to it). And no you do not need an alignment when changing rim diameter. However, if you lower the car, you will need an alignment.

Cost is hard to say because there are so many options & variables to both.

What the hell is this thread about?

Can't adjust computer to take into account a bigger wheel for MPH. It's all mechanical.

Best bet would be a slight lowering spring.

If i go with a 18" wheel and have tire with the same side wall high, won't that make the wheel bigger hence throw off the speedo reading and the ODO reading?

So you guys suggest just lowering the car?

Lowering the car is probably the best way to reduce the wheel gap at low cost.

I lowered it 1 3/4 inches all the way around with KW V3’s
17 X 8 +48 wheels
I'm very pleased with he results

I have 18x8 +32 on mine lowered 1" on Hotchkis springs. Running 225/40 doesn't change the reading on the speedo until about 60 mph. And even then it's only less than 1mph above stock.

Here's a tire calculator so you can see the difference:

Suspension hasn't completely settled. I'll get one up of how it sits tomorrow.

That's... really not how it works.

Mach V Springs + Whiteline tops for alignment = done. Simple and cheap.

He wants to fill out the wheel arch and to do that evenly you would have to fit a larger wheel and tyre and then adjust the speedo.
By keeping the same diameter and lowering the car the gap at the top gets smaller or disappears but the gap front and rear remains the same and makes it look like it's collapsed.

You could fit 245/45-17 on the stock rims which are 26mm bigger diameter.
That would fill out the gap front/top/rear by 13mm but would also raise car by 13mm.
The speedo would probably be spot on with a 4.2% increase in actual speed against the reading.
