Best Dash Cam?

After the accident I was in, I've decided it's a very good idea to invest in a dash cam for my next FR-S. My question is, which is the best one for $200 or less. I've seen a lot of blackvue ones but i dont really need all of the features it has. I just want one that will record what's in front of me. I was thinking that the DVR 027 would suffice, but what do you guys think?

-The only problem I have with the DVR 027 is it only records 720p and it seems pretty big.

I went with the blackvue , I read about it alot before I bought it.
You can wait a couple of months there is a new version coming out

Is the new version the DR500GW-HD? Seems to be available for ordering now.

Yep, just looked into it - has better ventilation, it's a larger unit so perhaps the internal components are laid out better for heat management, it's a darker color all around so it's less visible from outside, and it has wi-fi built in so you can view the camera using a wi-fi enabled smartphone in real time or recorded modes.

Might look into buying this.

I just bought cheapy one from HK. Its called carcam. I believe they sell it on amazon. Works well with micro SD and records in HD.

Thread ressurection!

I found sifted through all the endless reviews all over the internet and came to the recommendation of the dvr027. Best bang for the buck by far. Like you, I don't need all the latest amd greatest features. Just something that records in ATLEAST high def which the dvr027 does with 720p. Enough to read license plates clearly.

For a bit over $50 plus an SD card, I think it's an awesome deal. I ordered mine from dx.com and still waiting for it to come in. These babies are so cheap that I think I'm going to order up another one so I can have two in my car (front and rear facing dash cams). But I am waiting for the first one to cme in and test it first before the.go ahead to get another one.

Does anyone have a DIY on wiring a dashcam to be always on in the FRS?

http://dashcamtalk.com/

this is probably the best website to get all the info you need. also has a great forum.
if you want to figure what would be the best dash cam for your needs I suggest you spend some time on this website and i'm sure you will be able to find a cam that suits you best. you can also find firmare and software update for the various dashcams.

personally I have the Itronics ITB-100HD. very good cam but it seems that the price for it has increased since it only allows authorized vendors to sell it's products.

the cam I got can also comes with the hardware to be able to have your dashcam always on for an extra fee. it gets plugged through your fuse box.

I'm taking a gamble on the GT300W (1080p, 105 dollars). It's new for 2013 and dashcamtalk says if it doesn't have reliabilty issues it will be a best buy. Ordered from Foxoffer but still waiting shipment (backordered).
