I know different states have different laws.. But I was acting like a jackass once in a parking lot in Illinois.. It was a big lot attached to where I worked, two different companies, same owner.. Anyways being from the south, and up north driving in snow for the first time, I was doing donuts in xterra .. Apperantly there was a cop sitting in the lot doing paperwork, eating donuts something..
I was in a cloud of snow and it lit up all red and blue, we sat there for what seemed like a minute and the cop never got out, so I got out went up to him and he said it was to cold for him to get out for my stupidity lol, he cited me wreak less driving. This was Friday around 11 at night. That Monday I went and talked to the owner of the company, he got on to me a little for doing that stuff around is millions of dollars worth of equipment, John deer tractors and combines, grabbed the ticket and told me he will call me back down in a bit... Couple hours later, that cop was sitting in his office, with the "chief of police" for Monticello, the town I lived in.. The chief was getting on to the cop for sitting on private property and junked the ticket right there..
My boss owned a huge lot and warehouse, and told me to act a fool there all I wanted not at the shop lol... So yeah, I was under the impression that unless the owner of the property pressed charges, then the police can't do anything
Also here in so cal, where I'm at now, any nice sized lots are either chained, fenced, or have so many islands that its hard just to find anything bigger to try and drift, I can do a donut in a few places but that's about it
