Custom phone mount

I was unhappy with the design of many of phone mounts available on the market so my friend made me one with his 3D printer that utilizes the slot in the center dash. I wanted a mount that could be quickly setup and out of the way while driving.

In the first pic the gear lever is in reverse and as you can see there is enough space so it doesn't get in the way when shifting. However, I have hit it a couple of times when reaching for the vent direction knob at night. I only really use it when I need Google maps; otherwise it's storied in the glovebox and can be setup in seconds.

The platform surface is not smooth because the mount has gone through a couple of revisions that messed it up and my friend has not gotten around to making a new one. Also, the black weather stripping will no longer be needed once i find a thinner piece of steel to tape to inside of phone case back.

Just to make it clear I am not selling anything! This was just a fun project between friends and I decided to share it on here in case anyone wants to make something like it for themselves.

I also like this idea! I have a push to start there though :/. I just bought the exomount 2. Planning on placing it on my dash above the center vents.

Blah blah blah you aren't selling anything. Make me one and I will provide a donation to your car.

Yeah that looks to be a good model ... if things didn't workout with our DIY phone mount I was going to get that one.
