So I finally sat in an FR-S

last night i stopped by a dealer out in Ardmore. they had a black auto FR-S and i was able to finally sit inside. i was very surprised at how small it was inside. now i know it's a sports car and is clearly very small, but i just wasn't expecting it to be how it was. it reminded me of the inside of a new camaro. anyway, i'm going to be going back for a test drive soon because i know everyone says the interior is the worst part about this car, but i was wondering if anyone else felt the same way. did anyone else drive a sedan before this car? my two cars have been a 2000 taurus and i currently drive a '97 century.

everyone says the interior is the worst part? I actually like the interior... I dont need a bunch of gadgets and buttons... its simple. for me the interior is as perfect as a factory interior can be on a car like this.

I had a mid-size SUV and when I first sat in the car I thought it was small. It was only until I got to sit in it for 15min. at the dealer (second visit) and adjust everything that it felt great.

When you drive it you will forget about these minor issues and realize the bliss.

I felt like I was sitting IN it rather than ON it. I felt like I was ready to go 200mph. It is a great car, and coming from lackluster interiors, I'm honestly fine with the twin's interior. Everything was in my reach, I just felt comfy.

That feeling you get when the car feels like a lot of thought went into it, and you have been following it since it's rumor days - when the most we had were concepts and blueprints... then, you get to experience the result..

i've sat in one before, and i'm convinced i need to lose some weight. *fatty not fit so well*

Drove a Speed3...Im glad I have less room...no more giving people rides like when I had the spacious turbowagon.

@Fancy i actually love how it's so simple on the inside. some cars now have way too many buttons and way more features than anyone would ever need.
@hybrid4g that's what i think will happen. i've driven a whole bunch of mustangs, a z28 camaro, and a few other cars, but i'm so excited to drive this car.

This basically sums it up.

I had so many poor expectations from reading FT86 before mine arrived and complaints about poor interiors and such.

And then I drove the car for the first time, and absolutely love everything about it. I don't want/need any more gadgets and fanciness, I love the car as it is.

Yeah when people say the FR-S fits like a glove, they mean it. It can feel small if you're not used to it, but believe it or not, it's quite spacious compared to true 2-seater sports cars (S2000, Miata, 370z, etc.) You get used to it.

Re. the interior, I was actually pleased with it the first time I saw it in person. Maybe because of how bad it photographs, but in person, I thought it looked nice. And my other car (VW GTI) is considered the hot hatch dash-stroker's wet dream car.

i've been following it since two octovers ago, and i'm so excited to see how it actually drives.

this is a big reason why i'm not concerned about the lack of back seats. the only person i ever drive with is my girlfriend and she loves this car too:thumbup:

i'm 5'11-5'12, 225lbs. fits like...something tiny on a fat person.

i suggest you sit in a BRZ limited. fancier buttons and Nav do make the interior more pleasant. When i sat in a FRS my impression was that it has nothing. When i sat in a BRZ i thought at least it has something.

CircuitJerk 01-10-2013 04:19 PM

I'm 5' 9" and about 225lbs, I thought the same thing that wrxgoose did at first. Each test drive (4 in all) it got a little more acceptable to me and I figured I could live with it.
After picking it up it took about a week to where I started feeling comfortable and then all of a sudden, it's the most comfortable seat and I can't wait for it to hug me every day.
As for the interior, I find it rather sexy minimalist. Love those analog HVAC dials, the head unit I'm not too thrilled about but whatever, I'm not in the car to be visually stimulated either. It hits my style taste buds just right.

i prefer the look of the FR-S more. I like the grille more, and the faux side vents. the silver parts of the BRZ just aren't my cup of tea.
