Time to change the winter tires?

Bought em for nothing, had one day of snow in long island and it was the day before i put my winter tires on.

Now its 50 degrees outside, fucking 50 degrees. The kids are out playing and everyone is walking their dogs.

Well, fuck.

I feel your pain. General Artimax Artic went on last Saturday and the weather instantly went up 30*.

And if we didnt change them over, I am sure we would have been hit with a blizzard.

Such is life.

I am holding out to March, there's still ice at night/early morning and inevitably we'll see a late season blizzard if I do decide to take the snow tires off.

yea i put them on a few weeks back. better safe than sorry. they're really not that bad in this weather either.

If you're only planning to own the car for one year then yeah what a bust but over the next few years, you'll probably see some use. Just sayin...

Keep in mind you don't put them on just for the tread traction but also for the compound of the rubber. The street is probably colder than the air temp (let alone other winter days when it wasn't 50) so the compound of the snow tires has been helping your stopping distanaces anytiome it's cold.

55 for me! I might have to go for a Sunday drive. I haven't done that in awhile. And it's going rain all day tomorrow! I've never been so happy for rain. Cleaning the remaining salt off the roads!

I was driving around with the stock tires that night the snow hit. I'm pretty sure I was driving sideways most of the night going 5 MPH. Must have scared quite a number of people on the streets.

It was fun, but not practical here so I switched them out for Blizzak LM60's the week after. Unfortunately there hasn't been a flake of snow since then. I'm sure they're still much better than the stock tires at this temperature though I wish I could really test them out.
