Want Opticoat, but clear bra on.

So I purchased my FRS (finally), and the son of a bitch came with a clear coat on it. I couldnt really avoid it; the car was hard enough to find in the color I wanted so I just went with it. How much of a pain in the ass would it be to get the car Opticoated (assuming they'd remove the clear bra), then have the bra re-installed?

Has anyone else ran into this issue? Most FRS's ive seen have the clear bra on them.

clear bra, as i know, cannot be taken off then re-install. once you take it off you can't use the same one anymore. Just apply Opti-coat over the clear bra.

Exactly

you will see a realy high cost for PPF removal, paint correction, opti-coat and re-application of the PPF (using a new piece of film as mentioned above)

as others have stated the more practical solution is to just apply the coating on top of the clear bra

I just ran into this. I had the detailer take the clear bra off and it ended up being a mess. The 3M adhesive is really difficult to remove. Check my thread.

Glad I got the clear bra off though. It was stamped scion everywhere, which annoyed me. It was also just on a small portion of the hood, so I didn't really think it was in the best spot. If you're going to remove it, get it done professionally or make sure you have the right products.

Just apply OC over the film. Odds are your film is clear coated, OC will adhere no problem and you will get all the benefits of the OC on the film that you do on the paint. I work with a film installer, we always apply OC on the film, rather than under it (since there is no benefit to applying it under film).

Does the PPF clear bra come installed from the factory? Or is this something the dealers typically install once the vehicle arrives?

Usually it's a dealer installed option.

I will have to call and tell them I do not want it installed when it arrives off the truck. I would like to make a bee line to the nearest detailer and having opti/bra combo done.
