Crawford Performance at FRS release event - taps into ECU !

Was looking at Crawford Performance's FB page and they had this photo with this caption:
First Team In The US To Tap Into The FRS ECU!

This is great news for the rest of us.

CSOCSO 12-02-2011 02:54 AM

Well... i've read somewhere that the ECU will be tunable/open, yet in other articles some journalists said that the car will be pretty bad to tune it because of toyota's d4s system....
idk.:(

Allch Chcar 12-02-2011 02:57 AM

No wai!

KAuss 12-02-2011 03:09 AM

So they tapped into the FRS ECU while doing a sketch of a BRZ as their tune vehicle? :D

CSOCSO, the articles were in backwards order for you, the D4S talk was pre official word, and the unlocked ECU came from Toyota...

I don't know how much time I'll spend squeezing HP out of this thing, honestly I feel 200hp is plenty enough for me... I never get to floor cars like the 370Z or STi... With 200hp and great brakes, I feel I can drive this thing more like a go kart... I miss that about my 90 Integra LS... Learning how to heel toe on that thing was more fun going WOT in anything else I've ever driven because it felt like I was taking hot corners in a race!

I'm glad someone is pioneering tho, just in case I do get bored of the slow LOL...

Yeah, one of the member told me about this info bout lil over yr ago. I wasn't sure when he gonna reads that info

Hang on a minute WTF seriously.

Fuckers already aloud to tinker with it and we cant even get a decent 100% yep this is it on the production model, and price, dont get me started on price.

:mad0259:

Poor form, super poor form.

KAuss 12-02-2011 03:45 AM

How is this poor form? This means that most of the early adapters will have some trial and error done for them by time they buy their cars...

Greddy already has a few parts out...

You guys can probably save a lot of time tinkering yourself but some will anyways because it's what they do...

I think this is a good thing...

If Toyobaru released all that information, there is NOTHING for us to look forward to until the car's release... I personally need some kind of mystery still until the release lol, because I'm already looking like I can't use either the back seat or won't have budget for it...

Unless my truck is worth a hell of a lot more than I think it is worth to someone else lol...

You are a serious moron. Crawford combined with Cobb are THE ECU tuning company, bmw, gtr skyline, subaru etc.

You are ignorant, this allows us to get performance parts and tuners to have something to go on when the car releases, and is a huge benefit to the consumer.

It is a production model, and has been known to everyone else as one, maybe you are high on crack?

I spied a lit key hole ring on U.S. spec Scion! My dream is coming true! I hope someone will tune the ECU for higher RPM and E85. I have a couple of places where I live.

we have an awesome e85 tuner here, but you get pretty bad regular mileage. I also hear it can be bad to constantly switch back and forth. it sure does make a ton of safe power eh? Its equal to this 109 unleaded vp racing I use to get for 10/gallon.

i just hope that the low power is to gain some government mileage rating and there is a beat 50hp in there from exhaust+tuning, that would make my day. At the same time with 12:5:1 I dont want to be first guy tuned!

Me too! The first tank will probably be w/e they put in it but getting a set of custom tunes would be the first mod I do.

Naturally, Ethanol has a lower energy density. But if you get a tune for more power you're going to get worse MPG than with a stock tune by design. Some tuners offer torque tunes or fuel economy tunes. Not worth it in and of itself but if you get to pick three tunes, I would pick one to be more fuel economy based. Especially with E85.

50hp would make this car really fast. I'm going to be more than happy to get 200. :bonk:

The fuel system may not have enough headroom to just "tune it for E85" and because of the weird injection system, it may be some time before you can upgrade injectors.

You guys who are sticking with the FA20 should be very happy that Subaru are letting the aftermarket get a handle on what needs to be done sooner, rather than later.
