Yea, I thought I read somewhere they were limited to 200.

86_ZN6 01-06-2013 10:54 PM

Limited editions were numbered 1-140.

Anything above that is not numbered anymore

90$ for a oil cap that will burn your hand when removing!!!???

arleewa 01-07-2013 03:37 AM

Wait a second, I thought the BRZ was supposed to be limited edition?? :P "Only 6,000"!!

Shagaliscious 01-07-2013 07:38 AM

In all fairness, I don't think they charged extra for the limited edition ones. Actually, i'm pretty sure they were cheaper then that.

They were cheaper. Couldn't tell you off hand, but I'd say around $50-60.

I'll never buy a metal oil cap. The MR2 Turbo I bought had a TRD one; it got so hot you'd have to use channel locks to remove it because of expansion. Kind of a PITA when you need to add oil at the gas station.

The dealer had no problem taking mine off to do my oil change (free, only reason I went to them) after I had driven the hour home from work.

Grimmspeed was gauging interest at first, taking orders from people who hadn't even seen the final product yet. For these people (myself included) it was a special price and a numbered limited edition. They were done for little or no profit. Just used to show support for the 86 community (smart marketing). The responce was huge, so they have continued to produce them.

I can tell you that it is a very high quality little gem for under the hood. Worth every penny. As for heat... I always have a rag in the car. No problem.
