Nope.

So a tune for a stock car is the same as a tune for a car with aftermarket exhaust?

If you are after power, skip the exhaust and get a good tune.

I drove Bob's @Drift-Office stock intake/exhaust FRS which had his stage 1 EcuTek tune putting out185whp.

Of course, if you can afford both, go for it B-)

He said he plans both...the question was which order?

That's what I thought, but deucethemoose is saying the tune would be the same so it doesn't matter...?

How do you expect a vendor to custom tailor a tune to your car and then mail you the file? It isn't going to happen. You're talking about a generalized universal tune. They're not making tunes for every single exhaust variation or every intake/exhaust combo under the sun.

If you're going to go and give your car to a tuner and have them build a one-off tune for your vehicle then by all means buy the exhaust first, but if you're going to buy a precanned tune from any of the vendors here you aren't going to have that custom tune. Do you think Cobb does one off tunes for their Accessport? No. I don't know why this seems to be so difficult to comprehend.

I suppose it's difficult to comprehend because we're talking both canned tunes and custom tunes...or I'm just stoopid...it's a toss up...

the tunes for stock vs aftermarket parts would be different. for example @FA20Club.com has a stock tune that gives you ~10 HP and a aftermarket that gives ~20 HP. the reason is that the latter is made to take full advantage of the difference in AFR, back pressure, or whatever your mods change on the car so the computers know what they are working with. correct me if i'm wrong though Toni.

Its pretty simple.... go with a tune. You will pick up more power than an exhaust. Then when you get the exhaust send your log files to Visconti or whoever you get the tune from and he will optumize the map. On top of just power, you also get all the racerom goodies that go along with a tune. Last time I checked your not gonna get launch control or FFS from an exhaust.

Had a similar choice and went with the exhaust. It addresses so many areas simultaneously.

1) Sound: stock exhaust is too quiet.
2) Looks: stock tips are tiny.
3) Weight: saves about 10 lbs -- not much, but adds up.
4) Power: adds 6 peak whp (and 11 whp avg from 7000-7400 rpm).

Pretty good value if you take all that into consideration. If you only care about power though, tune would probably be better.

Tune changes the sound as well, and gives more POWA.
