TRD Photos

Since you chaps in Oz and us here in NZ have much easier access to TRD parts than our brothers in USA and Europe I thought you might be interested in the photos taken this morning of my TRD that I have put on my car journal (but car journals are not on the regional forum).

My TRD parts were supplied by Toyota NZ and Toyota North Shore with installation done by TNZ (for the "standard" TRD package) and Rutherford and Bond Toyota here in Wellington for the coilovers and other extras.

Taken by Plimmerton beach near Wellington, New Zealand.

There is a minor "problem" with the brakes. They are so huge that even with 18" wheels there's no room to put a rim cleaning brush behind the callipers so I have to clean 2/3 of the inside rim and then drive the car forward half a rotation to clean the rim where the callipers were.

I know, first world problems!

Yeah @eztygr, we should arrange another Wgtn gathering. SB, are you going to the 3rd Feb Manfeild day?

I'm on hols until 14 Jan and drive past your suburb most days if you want to meet up somewhere. Somewhere where there's no stones to kick eh.

Suggest Toyota North Shore in NZ and then fitted by local dealer/mechanic.

You may have prob with warranty in Oz though as TRD is not "official" there.

Google Toyota North Shore in New Zealand or PM @caldine

Track shot looks great!

Looks fantastic mate. I was tempted to put the TRD standard kit on my white GTS.. still undecided.

On the note about cleaning brakes - after just 4 weeks I have rust forming on all 4 of my discs. Is this normal?

Yeah, doesn't take long for surface rust to develop on the disks but should disappear as you use them only to come back if you let it sit for a couple of days. You just need to drive more!

LOL yeah true - honestly not enjoying my 86 at the moment due to some steering issues. Lost all my feedback and stiffness. It's gone all soft/light and laggy. No idea what's going on :(
