Need help! Clear Bra Adhesive
 

Ok guys I need some serious help. My car is at the shop getting detailed and opticoated. I had the guy take off my clear bra that came with the car on my hood. The problem is that a lot of the adhesive still remains and he said that he's tried goo off and things like that and nothings working. Its a 3M bra, any suggestions? Hes going to spend all day tomorrow with it.

I would try heat. My clear bra guy is not in the shop today otherwise I would ask him.

He said that he has tried goo off, a heat gun, WD-40 and i think one or two other things. He said he didnt want to mess up the paint with the WD-40 though so he didnt want to use to much or let it sit too long or anything.

3M adhesive and tar remover usually works well for me.

Im going to see if we can get some 3M remover somewhere tomorrow. I need to get this shit off lol

Should have left it on. Once opticoat is applied it will be near impossible to reapply a clear bra as it will not adhere easily.

Incorrect. It has been posted by the makers of OC themselves that clear bra's will adhere just fine. I OC'd my car and then had Xpel Ultimate applied to the entire front end and have had no issues.

I have no intentions of reapplying a clear bra either way

3M clear bra and others would not adhere when you contact opticoat via phone they say it's because of the new formula. They recommend going over the clear bra with opticoat. And not under it.

This is a conversation for another time.

I used their newest OC 2.0 formula and had no issues as stated above.

Thanks I'm gonna use that when I contact them again Monday as they told me wait till I get the clear bra installed to opticoat. Guess I spoke with someone who didn't know there product.

Duplicolor makes a product called "Duplicolor paint prep spray" Its a clear spray and clearcoat safe. I used it to remove the bra adhesive from my old 350z bumper. I sprayed small 1-2 ft sections then gently wipe off the adhesive. I bought a bag of cheap microfiber towels as they will get tacky quick. Good luck man!

Thanks for the input, never heard of this before. Is this something you think I would find at an automotive store/walmart or something I'd have to order?

Stoners Tarminator Clear coat safe, and is great at removing adhesive like this.
