New Custom Paint Job
6 Attachment(s)
I know so many people are raging like monkeys over opti-coat. Frankly I am sick of all these new technologies. I put my tax dollars to work and got together behind a public works truck and got a new egg shell matte finish and undercoating.
The protection is unrivaled. Here are some quotes from local women: Quote:

There's women in Illinois named Bernard?
I'd say you need to get to a touchless car wash but...I don't think that's the safest bet. I'm sorry you have to deal with this sir. |
love it!!!

This thread makes me cry!!!
|
Hilarious.
|

my heart hurts seeing an 86 in this kind of condition. |
Northern Illinois, 40 min west of Chicago. 1.5 hours from Milwaukee, 1:16 minutes from Sandwich, 38 minutes from Westmont Sewage plant. 45 minutes from Blackjack strip club.

Mine looked like that a few hours ago - then I washed it. I kept thinking that my poor baby is being eaten alive by the nasty salt (even though I have a rust inhibitor module). Was only getting the odd glance, but, then 3x more looks now that it's clean.
|
And that is why I don't live up north anymore. Thanks for showing me what my car looks like with salt all over it, I think I'll pass :happy0180:

Just feel lucky that the FR-S windshield is at the right angle to deflect most objects like the medium sized rocks they use instead of salt or sand here in Calgary. So when you here a rock don't worry too too much 98% chance or better your all right. I haven't counted exactly but I'm pritty sure I've had at least 100 and not even a chip.

im so confused by this thread

Haha, half of the cars in IL looked like this when I lived up there. Just take it to a wash booth and spray it off. Best you can do for now without getting a heated garage.
|
I'm sure I'd be putting myself at risk for frostbite if I still lived up north with my car, because I'd be washing it every. single. day. No way in Hell (MI) I'd let that sit on my car for more than a few hours.
|
My last three cars rotted in the garage in the winter the last of which drove me absolutely crazy that I sold it in the spring. I vowed not to own another car aside from a kart that just sat looking pretty.
So the salt, dirt and the pre snow treatment that collects like a fresh coat of fire suppressant on the paint may look bad to some, its much worse seeing a car sit in the garage clean for half the year. Its best to celebrate the filth the caustic sludge and rust inducing slop than to be sad in the pants not driving it. |

I haven't laughed that hard in over a week. 2013 seems like a good year after all, especially with all these custom paint jobs done by our state gov.
|
Its a joke...you guys know what that is right?
Opti-coat is really over hyped though...:sigh: |
lmao this is comedy!
|
My car looks identical
maybe tomorrow I will wash it |

Mine looks just like that, but it's silver so you can't tell as easily.
We haven't even had any "real" snow in the chicagoland area yet, but every village is dumping loads of salt on the roads. I bet if we get hit by a blizzard in february, there will be no more salt to melt away the snow. |
:barf:
|
Had this paint job as well but with red salt and disliked it so I repainted with H2O.
