Does anyone know how long untill Crutchfield.com has info on the twins?

I guess they're still waiting on their local dealer to get one in stock so they can take measurements, despite the repeated offers that the community has made to them to make use of their cars.

Just chatted with their customer support person, she says they don't know when they'll have information for gear compatible with our car, but suggests I keep checking back!

At this point, it's probably best to just go to a custom shop and have them advise on upgrades. I like using Crutchfield as much as the next guy, but it's not like harnesses and brackets haven't been made available for our car yet. We just don't have that easy Crutchfield experience available to get everything guaranteed to fit, plug, and play all from the comfort of our browser :(

There is a lot of info on this site an others for wiring harness', speaker sizes and depth, etc. I have already upgraded my stereo. Speakers are next.

Lol and what exactly are you waiting for ? With my install I'm not touching the factory harness at all.

Yeah the HU is decent, but the buttons are okay i want to keep it there. I feel like adding the small radios defeats the purpose of having the subaru standard GPS and touch screen feel.

I am waiting for crutchfield to add the easy "Find your car" upgrades method its super easy and just click away instead of search, search, and search lol And i just got my car so its still a little early so np

All of the builds that I've seen that listed parts (harnesses, brackets, etc) were for FRS, but unless I'm mistaken, the BRZ uses different harnesses. No? Are they the same?

Does the base head unit and the upgraded Pioneer unit (Canada) and Bespoke (US) all use the same harness?

brillo 01-04-2013 03:54 PM

the stock pioneer head unit is a true dual din sized device correct?

Search this site, search google. Search my post Talking about the Alpine INE-s920HD. I believe I posted models there. FRS and BRZ use same harness' and dash kits. Remote wire and power antenna wire are different between FRS/BRZ.

The stock pioneer is 200mm. Regular double din is something like 180mm I think? In order to replace the HU, you will need fillers for either side.

I posted this a while ago, and I am not sure if any newer products have come out since then. But these are what I used to change mine. The stock harnesses will not be modified IIRC. Just the harness that connects to the HU and the harness between the stock and the HU harness.

Dash kit (requires modification, but cheap)

Antenna adapter

Note, this can work too and wont require modification, but is 30 bucks.

Thanks for the links - I think you're missing a harness for the 20 pin connector that includes the eBrake, reverse signal, and video input for the reverse camera, or did your new HU not use those?
