5 axis spoiler issues ?
so, I got the five axis spoiler back in June and I noticed that one corner of the tape is not as snug as before . and since it's almost New I wonder how I can fix it before it gets worse . I haven't asked the manufacturer but I hope they don't blame me . anyone see any peeling issues yet ?

use a heat gun to warm/melt the double sided tape and keep pressing it down, while using the heat gun (move the heat gun left and right). for about 5min. thats how i did mine, and now its perfect snug. its been 2weeks.

The tape on my entire body kit was next to useless. And I don't necessarily blame the tape as much as I would suggest that the components of the kit want to retain their shape from the mould.
I've since had my kit epoxied on the car by a body shop. |
hmm, mine was removed 6months ago at the dealer and they re-did it but I think they didn't use the same thick tape .. maybe I should go bother them. im paranoid about trying to peel it off to re-do it again. how did you guys pull it off without ripping it or damaging either the spoiler or trunk lid.. ?? just wondering

Unfortunately I know all too well what you are going through! You can get a re-application kit from five:ad and they can supply videos on how to remove, prep, then re-apply the full kit or just pieces of the kit if you wish to do it yourself. I have been informed that five:ad and 3M have collaborated to supply a certain automotive tape with an adhesion promoter (that only chemically works with the tape provided in the kit) but for it to work properly the body and parts of the kit need to be prepped correctly in order for the promoter to work.
Most dealerships will skip steps in order to reduce the time that is spent on installing the lip kit, mine didn't even prep the paint and in some cases used random pieces of 3M that were lying around the shop. You can contact FIVE:AD and explain your issue and they will help in any way they can. Their link is in my signature. You can also inquire as to weather FIVE:AD has a "preferred installer" in your area, meaning the tech's have actually been trained to install this particular lip kit. |
Hi Everyone,
This is Matt from FIVE:AD. For anyone who has encountered any issues with adhesion for your rear spoiler or aero kit and still may need help resolving the problems, please feel free to e-mail our sales team at info@fivead.net. More often than not the issue is installation related. There are very specific steps to follow to ensure the parts are properly installed, which includes using the exact 3M tape we have speced out for the parts, along with the provided 3M adhesion promoter. We want to ensure that everyone is enjoying their FIVE:AD products, so please feel free to e-mail us with any questions and thank you for the support everyone! Thanks! |
