Tail of the Dragon Run
 

Planning a trip to Tail of the Dragon in Robbersonville North Carolina on Saturday March 23rd. May try and make a weekend out of it. If your up for hanging out with some fellow 86ers, cruising through 318 curves in 11 miles, and having a good time. Then hit this up. Chattanooga people where you at?

The house is on a first come first serve meet. Here's all the current info and scheduling we have for the meet.

Ok everyone here are some directions to get to the house. An address is in the works for the house. Cant wait to see everyone.


From Robbinsville take US 129 north about a mile. Turn left onto NC 143 West
(follow Cherohala Skyway signs). Go 4 miles to STOP sign. Turn right staying on 143.
Continue on 143 for 5 miles, cross bridge at BLUE BOAR INN entrance. Continue
straight eight-tenths of a mile and turn to the right on Old Santeetlah Road directly
across the street from the bear statue. Continue on blacktop staying to the right. Then
stay right onto gravel at the 1188 sign.
If you are coming from the Cherohala Skyway, come about a mile past the Snowbird
Lodge and watch for the Old Santeetlah Road sign and bear statue on right. Make the
sharp left-hand-turn onto unmarked road. Continue on blacktop bearing to the right.
Then bear right onto gravel at the 1188 sign.

There will be 2 convoys that will form for the travel to the Dragon. @jstans84 will be heading up the Atlanta area convoy. @garf will be heading up the Chattanooga area convoy. Sunday after the conclusion I myself @L3P47 will be leading a convoy through the Skyway back to Georgia.

I love the tail of the dragon, one of my favorite hill climbs. I know a whole bunch of guys on the east coast that would be down for this, just post details on campgrounds/pricing and make a catchy name for the event and ill pass the info along.

This is a good idea... I am planning to go here this coming spring... it's 11 hrs drive from New Jersey... Maybe I can meet you there...

Ermaghurd. I freaking love the Dragon.

Haven't been in two years, maybe I can make it this weekend. I know some friends and I are planning on going in July to run it a few times and hang out at a friends lakehouse.

Wouldn't mind taking a trip up there, either in my S2000 or a BRZ if I get one by then. I heard the cops are really cracking down with speed traps up there, though.

I'm in. Funny enough I will actually be at the tail the weekend before that too with some friends of ZDAYZ, the big Nissan gathering they have up there every year.

There's a bunch of different hotels in the area to stay at. The closest near the Dragon is like $89 a night. Camping on the other hand is $14 a day.
