On the edge

Just put in an order for a white out FRS. With a $500 deposit, I can still back out if I so choose to. After reading lots of threads on this forums, I'm not sure if I should buy it or wait for a newer model with less problems.

buy it! word on the street has it the "niggling" little issues
that created problems with the early built cars
have been fixed, and MOST people are reporting
a trouble free car.

Personally I'm ready to order but I'm waiting until production switches to the 2014 model to avoid the issues. This late in the year I don't see why you wouldn't wait for the 2014's... I'm even doubting that they would fill an order for the 2013's at this point?

xanth123 01-01-2013 01:44 AM

Where can I find reliable info on the '14 models?

xanth123 01-01-2013 01:45 AM

Also would of had my FRS like 2 weeks ago, but the dealership at Lake City screwed me over. The salesman said that it was still there, but when I went to see it. He said it's sold.... was so mad.

dont ever wait for something that doesnt exist unless you have significant reason to. there is always something around the corner. it does seem that every issue with the car should be identified and rectified well within the warranty period so i wouldnt worry too much. the only reason to wait with the knowledge that the community has now is to get a discount on a new 13.

I would buy it. Everybody is waiting for improvements. I'm not. Each year they will change the car, and it won't be for the better. Mark my words. It'll weigh more and the suspension will be detuned for less fun and more safety. If the car becomes lighter and more agile in years to come, I'll eat my hat. You'll see, a few years from now we'll al be talking about the original 2013 FR-S before they screwed it up.

there is an element of truth in this!
case in point: the evolution of the ford mustang.

gmookher 01-01-2013 02:19 AM

we just got our 2nd one...

Sigh-on-Rice 01-01-2013 02:39 AM

The 2014 model might be better.
But your time with 2013 model from now until the 2014 model comes out is priceless. :)

That depends on if you really have to have to car now or are you ok by waiting for the '14's? Weigh out your odds and think about it b/c once you've signed the paperwork, it's yours. I've been waiting for this car since '07 and to hear the issues owners are having is only helping me prolong the purchase of this car.

I don't need it now and I hell as don't need all of these problems on a brand new car. Been there, done that. :bonk:

gmookher 01-01-2013 03:28 AM

what problems do you all see here?
with 16,000 '86 cars in usa, how many have these problems stopping you from buying your 1st?

we love our 1st, got our 2nd hoping we are as happy with 2nd as we are with 1st...

marky 01-01-2013 03:47 AM

when is the 2014 coming ? spring/summer? if so i can stick with my DC2 RS a bit more and could save a bit more $$$$ :) correct me if im wrong but didnt they sell the FRS/BRZ in spring 2012 early instead of like summer/mid?
