GoPro Hero3

I've been curious about upgrading from my Hero2 and was curious if anyone had any experience with the Hero3? The stats look good, but there seems to be a wide variety of feedback on the web.

I have the 3 Black and use it for FPV without a problem. It now works with the Android app but has a 2 second delay. Night shots are the best improvement. The 1080 @ 60fps, Medium FOV gives me the best quality. The Hero 2 uses 15 megabits/second while the 3 uses ~35 megabits/second (without protune).

The Hero 2 with Protune used to jam up on me so I got rid of it.

I am thinking about the 3 too but read a lot of bad user reviews so far. Mainly about the first time right out of the box update and freezed, not sure if GoPro fix their bugs yet?

There is a huge difference. The Hero3 Black is the only one to get at this point.

I think the Hero2 works great as long as you stay out of 1080. I took this video in 720 at 60hz. I think any resolution is great as long as it's 60hz or higher.

The low light performance between the 2 and the 3 black is night and day. 1080p60 and 720p120 are huge improvements too, slow motion from 120fps is amazingly clear.

In the box of mine it had an insert sheet of paper telling you to update it before using. I didn't do it right away and didn't have any issues, and no issues after the update either.

This is a short test just goofing around with it in 1080p30 on my RC stadium truck:
