[Noob Question]Will you be able to swap BRZ and 86 headlights?

[Noob Question]
The BRZ has a better LED/DRL light in the head lights...

I know the BRZ has the indcators in the head lights as well does this change the shape and length of them?
[/Noob Question]
Working BRZ lights.

*I am aware no one has the car so we can't officially tell...

Doesn't look like a direct swap to me. Just look closely at the shape of the headlights. I'm sure one of our Photoshop gurus could overlay them to prove it.

WingsofWar 11-30-2011 10:40 PM

i dunno honestly...IMO i think not without modification to front bumper and fender.

xantonin 11-30-2011 10:51 PM

I must be retarded then because they look identical. The angle is slightly off but I'm sure they are swappable.

Ikaros 11-30-2011 11:01 PM

Can't you just switch the lights that's inside? Like not the whole thing just the LED bands?

Don't think its directly swappable even if they are the same shape. The BRZ's turn signal in in the headlight assembly and the 86 is not.

Easy as pie (for an electrician like me) besides, I'm sure its just a plug and a wire, easily pulled (if theres enough clearance to reach your hand up from under the bumber and move the plug and wires up to attach to the headlight compartment, I doubt they'll use completely different harness plugs just for the turn signals so people can't swap headlights, to me they look the same shape, i'll try a little p-shopping/flip image and overlay to see when I get home...

That is all I am thinking the indicator is the easiest part if they fit... I can wire from the current indicator to the one in the light... might even have both of them working :P (if they fit.)

would be cool if we could swap in the subie lights and leave a little air gap where it doesnt fill kinda Toyota Tacoma like ish

DuMa 12-01-2011 12:28 AM

they look like the same shape to me but mounting points might be different because of the different bumpers.

I wonder if we could trade front ends out with friends....have a fr-s with the brz front...that'd be cool...

or vise-versa

Case182 12-01-2011 01:11 AM

Maybe its just my eyes. The smaller part of the lights seem to have a bit different shape.

Dark 12-01-2011 01:50 AM

Look at the Subie bumper, There is a fill-up. I think the BRZ headlight is a bit shorter. If you want to swap headlight, you need to fill up that gap.
Edit: I think headlights the same length. There is only one way to swap, is to modify the bumper, which would be a lot of work for most people here.
