FRS No class? WTF
So I was going through my friends FB who has a BRZ.
And one of his friends said this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps8747218b.png Seriously? I'm too lazy to blur his name out, and even then I'll put him on blast IDGAF. But for him to say that kinda ticked me off. |
You shouldn't care.

He didn't say that you have no class for owning an FR-S, just that men with class own BRZ's :)
But I would think that to make a statement like that you'd know what car it was and not have to add in either or |
Its a Scion, do you expect differently from the general populous?
|
You may not have "class" lol, but he obviously doesn't know that Subaru is damn near stamped on every important part of the car.
|
good thing he didn't say something like a toothless, hillbillie redneck...:slap:
|
He's just a Subaru fanboy and a badge whore. I wouldn't let it bother you too much. The cars are essentially the same, but one costs more.
|
Badge snobs aren't classy.
|
The less attention you pay to stupid comments like that, the better your life will be :)
And even more who knows, maybe he meant it as sarcasm. |
Yea, you shouldn't care. Haters gonna hate.

HIDs, alcantara seats, LED DRLs, navigation, spoiler, dual zone digital climate control (limited). Yup BRZ are more because they're the same |

J/K for the sensitive folks out there  |
eh it's possible the comment was based on a past conversation (inside joke) they had where your friend said he didn't want people to bash him for driving a Scion/Subaru...let it slide...people refer to the BRZ extras in different ways. *2 cents*
|
I always was proud to have a car with a "cheap" reputation, cause that way everyone was more impressed when they see or experience the car. Dont know, call it "humbleness"
Also you know who really knows that they're talking of and who just "reads" some internet blogs and pretend they know something about cars. I had sooooo may people making fun of my "crappy toyota" untill Fast and Furious came out and featured the Supra. So, just dont give a shit and enjoy your car |
Who cares what badge is on the car?
Branding/marketing is overrated. |
Did you read the dudes name? Who cares?
|
Look inside the door jam of your FR-S...."Manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries". So, his comment is null and void.
|
I don't think you have to worry about the opinions of someone who added "eezy" to their facebook name
And is it just me, or does it seem like BRZ owners care way more about this stuff than FRS owners? |
What I think is kind of laughable is his implication that BRZs are classy. I own a BRZ limited, and I wouldn't call it classy. These aren't "Classy" cars by any stretch of the imagination.
Here, whenever I encounter a hater in anything I do, I just remember this: (NSFW due to language, so put your headphones on if you're at work. ;) ) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7z_ztMxBgk"]Katt Williams Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1: Haters - YouTube[/ame] |
they just jelly

Didn't you hear?
BRZ's are the Saab's of the JDM world, clearly only the brightest and most intelligent drive BRZ's.... |

Haterzzzz
BRZ to FR-S, well honestly, its simply put that haters or gonna hate, and like Kat Williams said, let them hate, lol! That video cracked me up! Anywhos. I could of simply got the BRZ for the extra amenities, but honestly, it was the nose that scared me off! I was like, oh nooooo what has Subaru done? The Nose on the FR-S is just simply what I call sexy! Its also more aggressive. I mean if you want to get down to the bones of it, its different strokes for different folks. What I find ugly someone might find attractive, ya know? Im in the Army and the first time I saw one of these cars in person was a guy at my unit who owned a BRZ. Although I asked how much he paid, and then I was like, "really"... didnt have the heart to tell him that he got suckered. It was way higher than I thought. But I mean he loves his car right? So now there are two cars at my unit, my FR-S and his BRZ. Its kinda cool if ya think about it. The Truth of the matter is that the partnership came out of the necessity to build something unique. Toyota's idea was trully original, plant a boxer motor in the front and lower it a bit to give it lower center of gravity! But where oh where will we get this boxer motor? Oh Fuji heavy Ind will have one for us. Fuji said, you want motor, we want your design. Does that sound fair? Obviously Toyota said "yes". Thus the partnership was born and now we have a subaru clone car driving around, lol. J/k. Just remember Fuji Heavy industries may make the car, but they are not the ones who created the AE86, and didnt come up with the GT-86 either. They just saw that toyota was gonna make something great and they wanted in on it of course.

same car is same
|
Sometimes I think BRZ owners look at FRS owners like, "lol, cheap asses"
While FR-S owners look at BRZ owners like, "lol, overpaid" But in the end, who really cares. I'll admit I did want the BRZ to begin with since it's more limited as opposed to the FR-S. But their mark up is crazy high, at least here in Cali. |

I was going to get a BRZ, but the more I looked at both, the more I knew I would be happier with the car I thought looked better. Not the one that had more features (since I didn't buy this car for features).

Orbital...first laugh of the day. Well played sir. |
Car was inspired by by gt2000, sport800, and Ae86 all cars which Subaru never made. Just saying.
|
Lol I saw similar comments with my Facebook friends as well. What's more, you had all these folks trying to explain the differences between the cars to help the prospective buyer decide which one to get, and they were off. Not by much, but it was annoying to see people throwing out wrong info. I eventually went in there and just told him he'd be happy with either car if he values the driving experience. He ended up with the FRS, in his case, due to availability and price and those alone.

More money does not equal more class (as evidenced by his lack of same). Having a BRZ does not make the owner any classier than the FR-S owner. It just means that they have more money. How much more depends on which BRZ they have too - Premium vs Limited (aka Sport-tech in Canada). I have friends with expensive cars - their car doesn't give them any more class than they had before the purchase of their cars.
|
Well, I just did a cars.com search for the BRZ within 50 miles of my Los Angeles zip code. 3 are available, all around 34k. I get 71 FR-S vehicles listed. There you go . . .
|
Pour Grey Poupon on the FR-S logo if you want class.
|
It's all good. Whatever. My car is customized to the point where people are like "Wtf is that?"

OT: I'm sorry but I think the BRZ (or Subaru's WRX/STi for that matter) has just as much of a boy-racer image as Scion does, like Mitsubishi. You want class, get a German lux-sport coupe/sedan. ....if you give a damn about that stuff. |
The whole badge war is like 5 year olds arguing over toys. Does it seriously matter what badge is on it? I have no shame in having a Scion badge on my car. After all, it is a SCION FR-S, not a Toyota FR-S, etc. If someone doesn't recognize Scion, the second you say they're a branch of Toyota, that's all there is to it. If they say "Nice Subie BRO", you're getting trolled.
Yes, the car was built mainly by Subaru, but all in all, these are two companies you would want to build a car. Subaru badges, Toyota badges, Scion badges, or no badges, we're all part of the same family. No shame in keeping badges that the car came with. If someone has a problem with that, tell them to grow up. 9 out of 10 times the person saying this doesn't even own one. I'm happy with my Scion and I can make it look like a GT86 with a few tweaks without changing the badging. Everyone has their flavor of badging, whether it's on or removed, but swapping badges is just ridiculous in my opinion. If you care that much about what others think of your badges, put some Ferrari or Lambo badges on it. In the end, I don't care about what some other idiot says about the car. I love the car, and that's all that matters. |
