My take on that FB comment is that your friend is either taking the piss or simply likes the BRZ more than the FR-S.

The word 'class' has very little significance in this context.

Classy is not the first word that comes to mind when summing up a Subaru or Toyota.

A Jaguar is a classy car.

As for everyone else justifying why they bought what, you have too much time on your hands.

Exactly! And if you have a dislike for Mazda (personal reasons in my case) all the more so.

Too bad Scion didn't offer the option of an upgraded package though. Not that the car is bad without it, but Scion could have taken more of my money if they did.

I just got a BRZ but considered both - I selected the BRZ for the suspension setup, interior features and color as being better for me. That doesn't diminish the value proposition of the FR-S.

If all I cared about was a status symbol ("class") I'd be looking at base model 3 series or C class.
