Excellent! Do you mind sharing the specs on the Weds and rubber?
How's the Tein tuning? Overall drop and characteristics?

Thus far, you have the most ideal 'all function' setup I've seen. Certainly the route I'll be headed.

This thread is worthless w/o specs !!

Impressions on the mods would be good too. Im looking to set my car up as well balanced and functional as possible.

CSG Mike 01-01-2013 06:52 PM

All specs as requested; we believe that all info on the car should be freely shared. :) Except for the parts noted below, our car is stock. No intake, no ECU tune, no camber arms, no gutting. Our goal is to keep it simple, while maximizing functionality. As always, we only sell products we would put on our own car, and everything listed below is available for purchase except for tires; we don't do tires.

- Tein SRC coilovers
- Street tire setup:
-- Enkei RPF1 17x8 +45
-- Hankook Ventus RS3 225/45/17
- R-comp setup:
-- Wedsport TC105N 17x9 +35
-- Maxxis Victra RC1 235/40/17
- AP Racing/Essex Sprint big brake kit
- Carbotech XP12 front and rear brake pads
- Berk Technology axleback exhaust prototype (so the car isn't completely quiet!)

Alignment Specs:
-3.3 Front Camber
-2.4 Rear camber
1/16" total front toe-in
1/16" total rear toe-in

Suspension setup:
10k front 12k rear springs for street tires
12k front 14k rear springs for r-comp tires
1.4 inch drop front and rear

Fluids:
Motul RBF600 brake fluid (We used Project Mu G-four before the BBK)
Motul 300V 5W30 engine oil
Motul Gear300 transmission
Motul Gear300LS differential

I'll be posting a writeup on the Teins soon. I've been testing at the track, as well as canyoning and daily driving for that exact purpose :)

The SRCs are spectacular. While a full writeup is coming, the car, as it sits, currently owns the street tire records for the platform at Buttonwillow, Willow Springs International Raceway, and the Streets of Willow Springs.

Here's a video of the car in action with the street tire setup.

Thanks for the vid.

A bit off topic, but at :29-:32 & :53-:55, there is a high-frequency sound ... any idea what that is? (I think I've got the same thing, at it's been stumping me).

CSG Mike 01-01-2013 08:15 PM

The squeeling is the brake pads.... If that's what you're referring to..

Flow 01-01-2013 10:57 PM

Ok, tks. Nah, mines this high-pitched whine when I'm shifting. I'm pretty sure its from slipping the clutch, so I was hoping yours was the same thing (and then I'd have some more off-topic questions. :bonk:)

If you do some really fast shifts without letting the RPMs fall, then it'll make a high pitched squeak/chirp sound, but I wasn't doing that in the video; we don't want to beat our tranny up TOO much

That street tire record lap video is badass! Think I've watched it about ten times already
It just goes to show how well a properly tuned suspension setup can lay it down. Many are so wrapped up in making power before nailing the chassis dynamics. CSG is my idol build.

Now, I really want to see a lap on the R compounds!

your time 1:25.86 200hp (were you at stock power levels?)
randy in the '10 gt500 1:23.48 558hp hrmmm... lol

Yes, the power is completely stock, although we have some plans to add power in the future ;)

How experienced and comfortable is Darin doing custom alignments at West End with the FRS/BRZ? I remember going there with my S2000 and he seemed to basically know everything about the S2000 regarding alignment changes.

pat yourself on the back then, nice lap times, and this only proves that the FRS/BRZ is faster than a new v6 even with a track package by just adding the proper tires (i know you have suspension upgrades ect but the tires had a BIG role in it)

and thank you TOYOTA and SUABRU great job on such a fantastic car... handling is really leagues ahead of its price point
