REVIEW: Berk Technology Single Exit Track Pipe w/ Tip
Hi all,
As a Christmas gift to myself I decided to order a Berk Technology Single Exit Track Pipe w/ Tip. I wanted to write a little review since I looked and didn't see one dedicated to the single exit unit. I daily drive my BRZ 24/7/365 but also autocross in the warmer months. I will be staying in Stock class this year when I run with my local SCCA club so I was limited on performance modifications. This track pipe reduces weight, adds a little bit of power, and makes the car sound much more aggressive. All of those to me add up to a functional and class legal part, which to me are the best kind. I called Berk Friday afternoon the 21st while at work (hey the world didn't end so I figured I should treat myself right?) I spoke to Laura who was incredibly helpful and nice. She immediately asked if I tracked the car and what my plans were. We chatted and she promised she'd expedite my order so it would ship out before they closed for the holidays. I REALLY wanted to get it shipped to me this week while I'm off from work. As promised I got my tracking number Fri night and the unit actually arrived in NY on Monday but due to the holiday I didn't get it until FedEx reopened yesterday. The box had a big ol' Made in the USA sticker on it which was a nice added bonus. My package came with a few extra holiday goodies thanks to Laura! http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps2a7a57fe.jpg The welds look excellent and the tip is a really nice looking double wall design. The tip is slash cut as opposed to the straight cut design on the Nameless unit (they don't advertise it on their site as of this writing but they do make them if you ask.) I've always like the look of a slash cut tip. The flanges are thick and all of the hardware gaskets, bolts, and clamps look to be top notch. I'll be installing it when the weather clears up tomorrow and I'll post some more pics and reviews once I take it for a drive. Stay tuned! |

Installed everything today. I learned that rubber exhaust hangars are a complete pain in the arse to take off when it's only 30° out.
Installation: The fitment was excellent and perfectly centered with the rear valance cutout. I finished at night so forgive the dark cell phone pic. Once I got the exhaust hangers lubed up with WD40 and finally got them off the installation was quick. Sound: This pipe makes the car sound mean! No question about it. I'm going to re tighten the bolts tomorrow since I'm sure the gasket needed time to warm up. It's very quiet inside the cabin at idle once the car is warmed up. When it's cold its loud. I did some local driving around 30mph and there was a bit of drone in the 2500-3000 range. Once you open the car up on the highway this pipe really comes alive. I can feel the difference in acceleration it feels smoother not necessarily more powerful. I'm wondering what the twin exit sounds like inside the cabin because the single borders on too loud at times (that's not really a shocker though) Overall: I like the aggressive sound but haven't lived with the exhaust long enough to really say it's a long term option. Well see how I deal with 45 min commutes in traffic with it or the random weekend road trips my gf and I take. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2 |
FYI, the twin is louder.
