Samsung galaxy or iPhone 5? Convince me
Coming up on my phone upgrade and new some help deciding. Have the iPhone 4 now. Help me out!

Android or iOS, that's your first choice.
|
I have a Samsung galaxy Ace 2. It was about a third of the cost vs. the comparable iphone 4, but is still slightly better in every objective measurement. Even if they were the same price I still wouldn't get an apple though, I just can't bring myself to support the marketing hype.
What don't you like about your iphone 4? |

S3 feels very cheap when you hold it , iPhone to me is a better made product .
S3 has alot of functions and because it is open source has alot of bugs and glitches .. iPhone on the other hand is not open source , unless you jailbreak it and then you get all the capabilities of the s3 with all the bugs and glitches . Also your better of with the s2 , There was no big change from s2 to s3 , just like there was no change from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S. |

The Ace 2 is smaller then the S3, but for something that's going to be sitting in a pocket for most of it's life, I'm quit fine with that. The cost of the Ace 2 on a contract would be stupid though given that you should be able to find both for $0. I'm on pay as you go as it's cheaper for how much I use a phone. I paid $150 for the phone and then unlocked it for a few more dollars so I could use it with my provider. |
I have an S3 and my phone works fine.
I also refuse to support Apple because of their cheesy commercials on how "revolutionary" their products are, or how it now has this new awesome feature (thats been readily available to the market for years). The only thing Apple is great at is marketing and making people believe that they are the first for everything. Thats just me, again, my Samsung works just fine. |
I have the S3 and I'm in love (switched from iPhone4). I have been able to customize the hell of out if and could not be happier. The screen is amazing and is the size of the complete iPhone4. I'll never go back to Apple/IOS because of the customizable features of Android. If you hear people complain about Android having bugs, I cannot say that I have had any different experience compared to the bugs I encountered when using IOS.
I say if you're really interested in both then to go to Bestbuy and compare, or perhaps see if you have any friends which own them so they can show what they know. I know I hated my iPhone because I couldn't customize or "play" safely with jailbreaks etc. I've been using Cynagenmod on my S3 and again... Hands down awesome ability to customize the phone. Google also pulled/synced all my music from iTunes so thank GOD I never have to mess with that crap program again... Good luck in finding what best suits you! Apple has a good phone, but if you're more technical then I believe you'll find that Android is a great fit. With Android you can find a phone with specs that meets whatever else you may require of it instead of being stuck with what Apple wants to give you. |
^ could not say it better than this. I have an iPhone4 because of the hype of facetime back in 11'. Then I realized that nobody can use it over the air except in a Wifi zone (why not just get the MSN going if you have wifi and a laptop?)
On the other hand, if you can put in extra cash, why not get a Samsung Note II with bigger screen? Although the PPI on Note II is less than S3, it is still excellent IMO. PS: You do not need to load custom ROM in Android to *customize* your phone to your liking. The app widgets can provide lots of information instead of icons and icons. What is worse in iPhone is that you cannot easily open your file with different applications. Trying to save a video or a document to the phone and view it is always PITA. |
I'm not going to go back and fourth stating which is better, because honestly they are the same phone and do the same thing just fine. Its just like a PS3 vs 360 there is no clear cut winner. However I will say that apple is losing its shine and very slowly getting cornered by android statistically. Go with which whatever one looks the best lol.

I had an iphone4 and now I have an S3.
S3 is much more customizable, and everything is much easier to get for free. Including google navigation which is just fantastic. The only thing I really liked about the iPhone was that it was compatible with almost every car radio I have ever owned, via USB cable. The S3 has to connect via bluetooth with radios. Do I regret not getting an iPhone 5 instead of my S3? No. I believe I made the right choice. |

Thanks for clarifying that... I should have stated that better in my post! I should have said, "I was spoiled by the amount of customization by the Samsung Andriod release that I decided to go full monty with cynagenmod!" :thanks: |
Had an HTC Evo 4G.
No flames, just my experience iOS is more stable battery life is better better app selection syncs better with my other iOS devices, and Macs better international integration (languages) higher resale value on iPhone vs. Android devices Google Navigation is now available on iPhone, and reviewers say that it's better than the Android one Lotsa accessories, but due to lightning connector change, still trickling in. I miss swype and widgets though. |
