My FR-S will be gone for a while.

Well I got tired of my windows getting stuck open everytime I opened my door in the cold. I took the FR-S to Toyota and they reprogrammed them and said "All fixed" :mad0259: I then explained that I have done this on my own and I dont feel like I should have to do this every single time. I told them I do not want the car back until the issue has a permanent solution. So Until then I am driving a 2013 Camry v6 SE provided by my dealership. (Its a very nice car btw) anybody else actually taken the car in for this?:thanks:

Is the glass sticking to the rubber? How did you reprogram it? or was it just reset?

Superhatch 12-25-2012 01:17 AM

I've had the issue a few times but the down/up reset doesn't bother me enough to take it in.

Do you know what they plan on doing as a repair considering there isn't any TSB or known fix?

Pray they dont joyride like they did the other bloke of these forums who recorded it in his dash cam.

Let is what ends up happening ! I had this issue the first time it snowed here , but now she is parked

Jpen115 12-25-2012 11:55 AM

Well they "pulled 4 codes" for the window with their laptop and they said they would like to keep the car to see what they can do to permanently fix this problem that we all seem to have.

And its not exactly sticking to the rubber its litterally just getting frozen so when i open my door it goes haywire.

Ill know more in a few weeks.

And I took a picture of the miles before I dropped it off (849 mi)

From past experiances and frustration , (hopefully not for you) generally things like this require three trips to a dealership nowadays before they actually dig into things. In the day you could actually talk to the technician/mechanic and explain to the horses mouth, now you talk to a service writer, who I've come to realize have absolutely no common sense and no mechanical abilities at all.....good luck.

Only encountered this once on mine and it was an easy fix. It did slightly annoy me though.

That's whats preventing me from taking mine into the dealer. I would prefer not to be a guinea pig for them to test out to see what's wrong until a permanent fix has been identified.

Just so you know the dealer can keep the car forever. They won't be coming up with any fix. All they can do is talk to their field rep and Scion Tech Line to discuss the issue. In fact I would say the last place you want to leave your car is the dealer lot to rot.

Any changes or fixes have to come from Scion/Toyota engineering and corporate this takes time.

FRSupra 12-25-2012 10:28 PM

less complaining, more driving! ;)

Jpen115 12-26-2012 08:39 PM

This is just how I want things done. And FRSupra Im not complaining. Im just telling everybody that I gave up my FRS for a solution.

^This!

It's a pretty common issue for this car and there seems to be no TSB yet. So, either the dealership with hold the car till corporate issues a fix or hold the car till the temperatures increase and you don't see the problem anymore.

Either way, I don't see a reason to stop driving such a nice car and store it at the dealer when they can't do much except hit reset everytime this happens.
