Day 1 Changes?
I apologize if there is a topic out there that is similar to this...I attempted to search and did not come up with anything, but I may have been searching the wrong thing.
I was just curious if there are any things recommended to do as soon as you take possession of your FR-S/BRZ. I've seen a couple of mentions of changing the transmission fluid (6-speed), ensuring the radio is set to "FR-S mode" instead of "tC mode", and something about disabling the automatic air conditioner with defrost (or something like that). It'd just be nice to see a list of things that most people do in the first few days of ownership. Thanks for the tips! |
I changed the oil at 500mi to get the metal shavings out but that's not really day 1 haha

I guess it all depends on how much you prepared for the car. Some guys here have amassed a small collection of parts prior to taking delivery of their cars.
Some simple stuff to do: Switch radio to frs mode Change exhaust tips Add tint Adjust clutch |
Adjusting the clutch pedal engagement point is a good one. It makes a noticeable difference in the way the car feels/drives. When I brought mine home, I did that, double checked all the fluids, adjusted the tire pressure to 33f/32r, and removed 40lbs or so of junk from the trunk (fingers crossed I don't get a flat).

At first I thought you were talking about mods and for that, I would drive it for a while first and see what don't like and what you think is fine.
This was my checklist for when I took delivery:
-Personally, I didn't change the transmission fluid because I think it's fine. It's clunky at times during the cold weather nowadays but it's not a big deal for me. Smooth as butter. -My stereo was set in Tc mode and it sounded like crap! -Never heard about the automatic air conditioner issue. -I changed my oil around 4k miles, I didn't think it was a big deal. Car did feel a bit better afterwards though, however minute imo. -Tinting: I haven't done it yet, but I plan to soon -The other replies suggested clutch adjustment. Clutch was fine for me probably because the position was about the same as my last car (02 Accord) so I didn't change it. |
Drive it like you stole it from day 1

Bolt-ons are good for day 1 IMHO. Since the ecu learns from your first 100 mi, it would learn with the new parts on as well.
