FYI - Washer Fluid light

I guess this is something that should go in the FRS subforum too, but don't want to cross post.... but i found out yesterday that there isn't a "low washer fluid" light. You have to check the level of the reservoir manually using the supplied dipstick...

That is all.

This is a problem?

When you wash your car you should be poppin the hood and dying/wiping in the engine bay too...check the fluid then...look at the reservoirs for all the fluids...look for broken parts, missing clamps/screws, leaves that got in where they don't belong...

Just watch out for that pesky blinker fluid.

Ben_G 12-21-2012 01:16 PM

not a problem. Just something I've ever encountered before.... this is the first car I've owned without a dash light for it...

OMG

wow really? This is pretty important for people in snowy regions since washer fluid can be the difference between seeing and not seeing in the dirty portion of winter..

I didn't know this and is actually an issue for me since I don't hand wash my car ever during the cold months, so will have to keep an eye out!

Okay, let's think about that for a second.

Most drivers don't even know how to check their oil, much less pop the hood open. Most of them don't even care to. Car makers should be taking this axiom to heart - consumers are ignorant and stupid.

Unexpectedly running out of washer fluid is normally not a big problem - in sunny climes. Ever run out of washer fluid in the winter when you need to de-ice the windshield, or when you need to clean off salt and grime? I have...not very fun, extremely dangerous in fact.

Running out of washer fluid on the highway during winter is just as worst as your wipers falling off.

Thanks for the warning though, I assumed there was a warning light, the car being brand new and all.

Kimsey47 12-21-2012 02:07 PM

I didn't know cars still came with warning lights for washer fluid!

Really? I pretty much never use the stuff and when I do its more for novelty like oh yeah I can do that. Im pretty particular about visibility so use the squeegee when I can at the gas station, I also RainX all my windows and the side view mirrors.

During the winter months with so much slush and stuff getting kicked up driving its not uncommon to go through a jug of wiper fluid every other week (sometimes more often even)

If the roads are clear and its just bugs, yeah use a squeegee.
