Clutch sliping?
 

So leaving a red light i let out the clutch and the engine seemed to be revving high RPM for the speed i was going. so i popped the clutch in and it went back to normal but then i had a awful smell. anyone else experience anything like this ?

You probably forgot to let the clutch out all the way before getting on the gas. The smell will go away. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening all the time.

i have noticed my car smelling like burnt clutch as well but only after extreme abuse

it's just the new transmission smell, you'll miss it later ;)
