Eibach Pro-Kit vs Sportline

I'm leaning towards the Pro-Kits but it only drops the car by 1 inch.

Other than height difference, how do these two compare? I will be riding on stock shocks for a while. Aftermarket shocks are too expensive.

The height difference is what makes the Pro-kits better. Too low on this car is bad.

Sportlines have slightly higher spring rates also. Appearance wise it depends on what you like. You will obviously have more travel and less chance of hitting stuff with the Pro Kit springs.

We got the new swift springs we are trying out!

Yes what he said. You can read about why here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10643

If you don't care as much how your car handles but care more about looks then sportlines are probably more to your liking.

Both the Pro-Kit and Sportline are designed and tested around the factory shocks. Both work great for a street car with minimal mods. The main difference is ride height. Everyone has their personal preference. In my opinion, the Sportline kit looks way better...especially if you have wheels.

Here are the rates for both kits.

Pro-Kit
Front: 148-200 lbs/in
Rear: 103-274

Sportline
Front:120-211 lbs/in
Rear: 86-296 lbs/in

^^ what he said. My OEM shocks have held up just fine with thousands and thousands of miles now on the Sportlines.

So even a good set of coilovers that lower the car more than an inch are decreasing the max potential of the suspension?

Racecomp Engineering 12-21-2012 02:04 PM

The issue with springs is more to do with the lack of available bump travel. On coilovers you usually will have adequate bump travel even past a 1 inch drop, especially with the firmer springs that coilovers use. But with lowering springs on regular shocks/struts you're starting to push it.

There is still geometry to worry about but bump travel is a bigger issue IMO.

How are you guys liking the swifts? I've been waiting as patiently as I can.

I just installed the pro kit today and do you really need to use the bushings they came with? I checked the factory bump stops or whatever and they look brand new and me and my pops came to the conclusion that it wasnt really needed to change them out...... Should we take them off and put the Eibach ones on that it came with?

kickz 12-25-2012 10:16 PM

if you dont have to deal with winter i would go with sportline
the amount you pay for springs and install is not worth the 1inch drop

I'm going to say yes. The Eibach bump stops likely have a different durometer than the stock bump stops. I'm not sure in which direction they would go (harder or softer) but they likely include them for a reason. Best bet would be to call up Eibach customer support. They are super helpful and always have spot on information at their fingertips.
