New owner here. I've always been a big fan of Toyota, and the fr-s was no doubt on my radar for about 2 years now. Growing up my dream car was the Toyota Supra, and I always dreamed of one day owning a car like I had seen in the 90s. A lot of my favorite cars were built in the mid to late 90s, early 00's.
When the time came to get my first nice car, I bought a 2009 Scion tc in csm, it was the only thing Toyota really had to offer. Two years later I bought a Honda cr-z ex with navigation. After having exposure to the Honda tuner scene, I realized where I belonged.
So I traded my creature comfort, voice commanding, touch screen navigation Honda on the modern day car of my dreams. I've followed the forums a little and have read that a few have complained about the tacky, cheap looking interior and an unrefined car - this is what I love about it. It's everything that a 90's car was, and I could not be more happy. I plan to do mods, but in no hurry. I think this car has a lot going for it as is, and won't be doing an plasti-dippin, or carbon wrapping non-sense. Also I don't think the car should be labeled or thought of as a supercar that it's not. ie, an lfa or Porsche. This is a Toyota, and with the help of Subaru it's just my car.

I hope to learn a lot and contribute a lot to this community. To start, anything I need to look out for or be immediately concerned with?

I'm Josh btw. 2013 fr-s 6mt in Hot Lava.

You may want to heed the break-in period stuff on page 125 of the owner's manual.

Welcome! Great choice in color and it may be a collector's color in the long run as it's rumored that Hot Lava will be discontinued after 2013.

Thank's for the heads up, went right to the page after seeing this. I'm about 400 miles in and have followed all of the items addressed in that section so far..

Thank you! I'm a silver car guy, so my first choice was argento, but due to availability I went with my second and only other color I liked on the car -hot lava. I'm glad I did because it looks fantastic in person, and it was the Toyota exclusive color.

and thanks to everyone else!

Keep the traction control on! It'll keep you out of the ditch.
