Respected Chicagoland Subaru Dealers

I'm looking for a well known Subaru dealership in the area. I would like a dealer with a good service department that is very transparent and that I can talk to. I work on cars and have an automotive bachelors degree so I would prefer having a service advisor or technician that is straight forward with me (dont have to dumb things down).

I recently went to napleton subaru in schaumburg and had a bad experience. I was treated with zero respect since I wouldnt agree to a price. I wanted to start looking at a brz they had there and they basically told me where the car was to go find it myself. Then when i finally found someone to talk to, they told me that I cant test drive it unless I agree on a price.

Any reviews or suggestions would be great. Thanks!
(I'm looking to get a swp brz 6mt in Febuary)

You might get better results if you create a separate thread rather than it being buried in here.
That said, I only have experience with the one in St Charles which is probably too far west for you.

Gerald in Joliet. First brz sold was mine, another was colleagues and they have a red premium available. I hate dealers, told them so, and they are small but nice as hell and have no issues with all my mods. Damian is the main service guy and Chris is a young Master Tech.

Autobarn Subaru of Countryside... I bought my car there and everyone was very helpful and friendly.

Grand Subaru in Bensenville - bought mine there. Paid MSRP.
Gerald Subaru in Naperville (2 mile from where I live) priced their at MSRP + $2K or $3K marketing adjustment.
I got my car serviced at Gerald though, close to where I live. Plus, they were being very careful with the car (haven't serviced a BRZ)...

how has everyones service experiences been so far?

Gerald Subaru at Naperville Blvd / Odgen was fine... Only got an oil change there. Supposedly Subaru Grand was really good, service wise, but their service hours aren't the greatest (i.e., no Saturday service).

+1 for Grand Subaru. I purchased mine there for $500 over MSRP since they wouldn't budge on their "paint protection", but other than that they were good to work with. They didn't hesitate to let me test drive the car.

Thanks for the input!

Avoid Napleton's Subaru in Schaumburg.

Thanks for this post guys. I'm currently shopping around in Chicago and trying to find the right dealership. From the info here and from what I've read on other sites I'll most likely be going through Grand Subaru. It's fairly close to my home/work and has some solid ratings.

Now for some insight on paint protection places. I'd like to get some tint and opti-coating on my BRZ as soon as possible after purchase. Any suggestions? Particularly in the western suburbs?

I got my BRZ opti-coated at Automobile Day Spa in Lombard. Luis did a great job in correcting swirls on paint and then doing the opti-coat.

By the way, I got my BRZ recently from Bill Jacobs Subaru in Joliet. Small but very nice and friendly dealership. I haven't got to service my car yet though.

Evanston Subaru or Grand for me.(Got my BRZ 1500 under invoice from SOE :D ) Had bad experiences at Subaru of Schaumburg and they have a history on Nasioc of being less than stellar.
