this is cool but unfortunately my local tracks are not on GT5 so pretty useless for me....

Yes and no. There seems to be some additional hardware (the datalogger) being installed @ 0:22, but the software update for GT5 should be downloadable.

no so worried about logging data, just more interested in chasing a virtual representation, of the car I am going to buy, around a virtual track in a second virtual car to see if I can keep up.
