BC BR coilovers standard spring rates for toyota 86
 

I've been told that the standard springs rates for the bc br coilovers for a toyota 86 is 8kg/8kg from american vendors but 6kg/4kg from australian vendors.

Does anybody know why there is a discrepancy?

BC Factory set them at 6k/4k, which turned out to be fairly soft for the U.S testers, they went with the i8k/8k from customer feedback initially.

When you order a kit, from a good authorized vendor they can help you with the setup and can usually do custom rates.
