The 2014 Infiniti Q... They are all now Q.

In an innovative attempt to derp like never before, Infiniti will be renaming all of its models Q.

You couldnt make this up. Queer idea if you ask me.

I can just imagine the asinine arguments people will get into over which car is better, the G73 or the Q60, and the rest of the line.

VSGTS14 12-18-2012 04:48 PM

it's easy to distinguish what they are now. nobody knew wtf each letter meant, E, M, R, Q, P, S, T, U, V. it was dumb.

JoeBoxer 12-18-2012 04:52 PM

That new Rav4 looks like the first gen Mitsu Outlander, like exactly like it.

Rayme 12-18-2012 04:57 PM

Luxury car makers want to be known by their brand, not models...this will definitely work.

Though personally, I hate it, makes communication pretty hard.

They should stick to the current nomenclature especially because now people actually know which vehicle is being talked about whereas if they all begin with q it'll be a major PITA to know which vehicle one is talking about. Car/SUV/crossover. And I dislike the new nomenclature. For me current nomenclature > the new one.

Dumb

I'm a bigger fan of the numbers relating to engine size, but whatever.

OrbitalEllipses 12-19-2012 09:06 PM

You guys missed it; broski said it wouldn't make sense to call their 550HP V6 range topper the M36 when it's faster/more expensive than their flagship M56. "Why's the M36 less the than the M56? What's the relationship between 36 and 56? Who knows? Who cares! We're going Q!" is how I understood it.

So...INFINITI GT-R BROS!

JoeBoxer 12-20-2012 04:12 AM

I would hate to work in Infiniti parts when people start calling for stuff, "it's a q something, not sure which one..."

Guff 12-20-2012 06:14 AM

"yeah, I drive a Q67S"

"oh, no way that's sweet"

"Yeah, top of the line"

"Wait, my mom drives a QX67S though! Isn't that the faster version of your car??!?"

"NO THAT'S AN SUV FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

Expect this conversation to occur many times over the next few years.

The same way nobody knows what a C-Class is or a Lexus GS?

Individual model designations are a good thing.

VSGTS14 12-20-2012 10:12 AM

idk, i feel like lexus is easier to remember for some reason. but i know the brand. so maybe i just didn't know infiniti well enough.

Kevin@RAD 12-20-2012 10:38 AM

Meh.

I'm gonna stick to my G. ;)

From what I hear, the new 2014 sedan will be sick!
