people trying to race on the freeway...
I haven't had many issues since our freeways are pretty backed up most of the time during the day, but late at night I've had a couple run-in's with people trying to race me. How often does this happen to everyone else? Just last night I was coming home from a holiday party, driving my girlfriend around 1:30am. This hatch Mazda cruised up and kept trying to get me to 'race', he didn't even have plates yet, but after a minute or so of me sticking to 65-ish he rolled down the window and gave me a giant thumbs down haha. I just laughed it off, felt so childish.
I won't ever race someone while on public street roads, not that I don't trust my driving, but out of respect. and hey, shit happens. haha anyone get something worse than just a thumbs down? just curious |
It wears off as you get older.
However, before I moved here, the street scene in Albuquerque, NM was HUGE (mainly because with such dry warm weather you can kinda drive whatever you want daily - I drove a 49x whp C5 Corvette then daily before selling it to move here) so racing was super common and the police didn't mind as much. I grew up in Philly however and there it was still common but the police were MUCH worse. As I've gotten older I've appreciated cars for more than straight line speed (hence the FR-S) and tracked with HPDE days and such more than the 1/4 mile. |
I miss those high school days on Montgomery haha

every time i hear street racing it reminds me of this

I usually have Mustakes, Crapmaros, and Hyundais try to race me. I just ignore them, or if its at a light and I know there is a cop up ahead I will act like I am going to race them, then just drive normally while they take off and then get pulled over.

^^^ What happened there?! |
I must admit that when I had power I tended to give in to the street racers a little easier... there were a couple times when I had my GTO that I raced an STi or two... but not in the city, and only very briefly -- not flat out or anything.
I think that the best solution is to have a car that only has 150 ft-lbs of torque. I won't race if I think I'm gonna lose, haha. |

When you feel the need to race in Oregon just think of this http://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/811.125
and this http://courts.oregon.gov/Coos/docs/G...e_Schedule.pdf |
I've had a lot of people in the past accelerate when I try to pass. They'll be holding me up somewhere, so I go to pass <in a passing zone> and they accelerate wildly - well I guess they don't want to be passed by a girl. Happened to me on my Ducati here in OR, and in my Corrado VR6 back in upstate SC. Had to top 100 mph to get by these f*%$tards (yes, they accelerated that much). :mad0260:
Hoping people eventually grow up but I won't hold my breath. |
Why waste the gas by street racing. :)
