Autocross - Jan 5th - Brooksville Florida

Group: FAST (drivefast.org)
Cost: $30.00 plus processing fee, I think $32.47 total - includes lunch and drinks

http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...event_id=13514

I'll be there as will at least one FR-S owner (not sure if he's on here or not).

I haven't autocrossed in awhile so it'll be interesting :)

Cool--I should be in. Need to start setting my car up for the heavy lifting, in March @ the National Tour up in GA.

Thx for the heads-up...

NP, friendly notice though, these events fill up fast, I believe there are less than 10 spots left and pre-registration is required :( The reg system (myautoevents) has sucked recently :(

Never been to a FAST event or Brooksville. What's the turnout like and how many runs to you typically get?

And the website is down.

It was up when I posted it lol MAE sucks lately. Their actual site is up.

Runs depend on course, 6 is usually a safe bet, I've gotten 8 a lot of times and occasionally 10. Classing is based on SCCA but not as strict. Turnout will be 65 drivers, there's a hard limit at the airport of 70 people and the 5 guest spots are taken. (hard limit due to Homeland Security).

Well in a class of only 5 cars (6 were supposed to be there and the missing car was an FRS that I heard developed what sounded like a spun bearing and rod knock :( trying to see how that car is doing now..) George (GTB/ZR-1) and myself took 1st and 2nd

George got 1st with some very consistent and *fast* driving and a time of 49.615, I took second with a 49.807. Third went to a 350Z which ran a 50.669.

Video of my fastest run, lots of sliding around, combination of my less than ideal driving and my less than ideal driving :)

I wanted to go but on Prius tire, it wasn't work it. My tires are dead and new ones are on order.

I did a local event Saturday night and slid all around the track

That was my FR-S that no showed, and they were right, spun bearing. It's been at the dealership since. I was hoping to get it back by this event. Good showing for the FRS's going 1-2, wish i could have made 1-2-3, hopefully next month.

Hey, I asked another guy on the FAST forum with an 86 but that turned out to be IceCreamMan on here.. I didn't realize there was more than one FRS on the FAST site.

Hope to see the car back out there again man! Any idea why it spun a bearing? low oil? Oil pump failure?

Not sure, it was back in the shop a couple days after i bought it for the cam position/synchronizer whatever and it was fine. I had autocrossed it 5 times with no problem. It has 3700 miles on it. I talked to the tech and he says it was nothing I did but the first tech who worked on it messed up. Not sure why it took that many miles to fail. Somebody else on here had the same issue with the exact same miles.
