ecutek cable and license questions

i have a turbo kit coming. my question is i want to be able to do my own tune. Am i able to with the cable alone or do i need the license too?

Hi mate, unfortunately you are not able to do your own tuning with EcuTek even if you have the cable and licence.

so what does the cable do for you other then acting like a scan tool? also what is the license then?

The cable and license allows your car to be tuned, but the software is only unlocked for Ecutek tuners (aka their venders like Visconti and Perrin). It is speculated that it will be a couple years yet before they release the version that everyone can use to tune their cars themselves.

Not at this time.

Best bet is to work with FA20Club or another tuner.

There is a standalone kit

Hydra will have their system out soon (if it's not already)

Yes, you can tune up your car with ECUtek but to do so you need to purchase the tuner kit which is (if I recall correctly, in the 2K-4K range).

Apparently they're not selling that to consumers.

Who are ProECU Tuning Suites for?

ProECU Tuning Suites have been designed with the professional tuner in mind. Those familiar with engine management will find the software intuitive, powerful and easy to use.

This product is available to the commercial tuner only and is not supplied to individuals.

If you would like your own engine tuned, please use the EcuTek Dealer Locator to find your nearest tuner.
Please also look at the ProECU Programming Kit page for retail tools.

Good to know. I just wonder what factors would they use to determine if you are a commercial tuner or not...

Probably business license or tax id when setting up your account with them.
