A few laps at Sebring on my first session after being Solo qualified. Was getting used to how different the car felt with less weight. I was taking the conservative line through 17 because that's what the club required for safety. I'll be taking the faster line next time I go.

Still managed to capture some wind noise, but it's right above the muffler so the exhaust note is pretty crisp back there. Enjoy the music from the header at sustained wide open throttle! HAhaha...I feel you about the longing for green! Rosamond ain't exactly paradise. What was your best lap in the stock BRZ? Mine was a 1:47.7 in a stock FRS...stock tires too. I was too scared to turn the traction control off though! Time to make some money and start buyin' some damned parts!! |

I'm taking a conservative approach, as I don't want to risk any offs and/or damage. T9 (entering hot lap): I'm not carrying enough speed, and leave a lot (~6 ft) of track-out space. Compare where the position of the track is when I apex T9 and when I track out on T9. That's the margin (~3-4mph, which is nearly a second alone) T1, I enter slower, apex early, and hug, and don't need the full track out. T2, I brush the brakes on entry, instead of going in WOT and scrubbing the speed T3, I turn earlier than needed, and don't WOT as early as I can T4, I don't stay WOT around the turn, lifting slightly to keep the rear tucked T5, I take a "power" line and hug the turn, instead of using the full track-out, again, to prevent any possible offs from unforseen oversteer. I also enter about 10 mph slower than I can. This is easily 1+ seconds T6, this line is a result of the T5 line T7, not a turn at our speeds T8, simply WOT T9, I brake early, and too much, not wanting to risk an off on the entry or track out. That's why it's the wuss line :D |

My first time at Barber Motorsports Park outside Birmingham, Alabama with PCA
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q171SyarOW8"]Subaru BRZ at Barber Motorsports Park with Alabama PCA 12/15/13 (24 min) - YouTube[/ame] My fastest session of the weekend in group 4. I let a Seal Grey Cayman S by 5 minutes in, then spent the next 13 minutes going ballistic trying to catch back up only to get a break with some slow traffic entering pit lane. The real battle starts at the 14 minute mark! :D [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEvRv2Q6_5w"]Subaru BRZ at Barber Motorsports Park with Alabama PCA 12/15/13 (19 min) - YouTube[/ame] My last session of the weekend. Groups 3 and 4 combined after an oil spill from turn 15 through 5B, hence all the oildry kicking up dust and my speed and line through that sector being a little off. Despite not having an instructor all weekend and the subsequent challenges learning the track in the wet on Saturday, these Sunday sessions on a dry track were very rewarding. After reviewing the wet footage it's not even worth uploading and sharing. I was all over the place and there's just not much to see besides a very frustrated driver and a TCS light going off every corner. These two dry sessions were really fun and after reviewing those I think I can definitely take more speed through turns 1, 5, 9 and 10, but I was remembering the lessons learned from the day before in the wet and just never really explored the grip limit there thinking I'd better be safe than sorry since I had all the aids turned off. |

Car: 2013 FR-S Mods: -Nameless Exhaust -TRD CAI -BFG rivals 225/45/17 -Hawk HP+ front/rear -RBF 600 brake fluid Notes: 1st track day at Barber and 3rd overall, left VSC sport on because at the time I was still unsure of my ability to handle the car without it, and I had made the mistake of learning mostly with VSC before (did a few sessions with no traction control at the end of my first two days but kept getting to scared to take it off at Barber). Track: Roebling Road Raceway (Savannah, GA)
Car: 2013 FR-S Mods: Same as above Notes: And this is my 4th track day. Still using VSC sport regrettably, because I was running with the advanced group to make up lost time and didn't want to exceed my limits. I took off aids for the intermediate session after and the car felt very well, but the camera had lost battery and I couldn't time the laps. Fastest lap of this video was 1:27.6 I think, but it cuts off when the camera dies before I pass the porsche. Once again, critique is appreciated.
