Havin some fun at Tremblant

:w00t: Hi Alex--I have to say, the closest I've gotten to Mont Tremblant is on racing sims or TV. But I've always loved this track and hope to drive it one day. It has such a wonderful flow. And goodness, that triple, down hill right hander just looks so dangerous. Fast and scary. What group did you run with?

I'm also running HP+ and fluid but I also have an exhaust and header. And you were about a second faster than me at Watkins. But it was my first time there.

Well if you can get to the glen you can get to Tremblant :) I'm not sure what group I was in, I instruct and get out when I can. Hot lap, at the Glen, with this setup and a 5 day old car was 2.26.44 with harry's lap timer.

I'm still figuring out the lap timer and camera functions and I'm pretty sure I have more footage from last year somewhere... I'll post what I have in the FRS. If you want to see other cars and tracks, I have a bunch of my race footage.

BTW I'll post the schedule of events I run around here and I have room, a lift and accommodations for anybody willing to make the trip.

Alex

Alex

A 2.26? Whoa. OK, then you're more than 1 second quicker. That's about 5-6 full seconds faster. And were you on the stock Michelin tires or upgraded street rubber? I feel almost ashamed. But if you're an instructor I don't feel So bad as I'm still very inexperienced.

I would love to drive both Mont Tremblant and Mosport one day, although I'm not sure I'd be able to do it this year. But yes, by all means, let us know the MT schedules. Perhaps I can work something out.

Alextouring 01-08-2015 10:58 PM

Yup Stock primacy HP, they were almost 2 seconds faster new than after 14 track days though. I've got over a 100 days there and been doing it for 16 years, you'll get there. Even though my best friend is always usually faster than me in any car I consider it a decent time to shoot for.

I'll also be in your neighborhood this year with SCDA which is a great club to run with. Check out the site www.SCDA1.com

Back at Watkins you mean? I ran Lime Rock with SCDA last year and will probably go with them for Watkins in July. Hope to see you up there.

Notes/Comments: Spent some time chasing around a Ferrari F430. Don't know the driver, so I'm unsure of how hard he was pushing. I've spent a fair amount of time at this track as it's the closest to home. Lap timer failed in the afternoon, but the best timed lap I got of the day was a 1:58.3.

Track: High Plains Raceway, Deer Trail, CO
Date: September 26th, 2014
Notes: This was my first time @ High Plains, but man, what a track. It was an absolute blast here and they had open passing, which was pretty interesting. No point bys, no passing zones, just pass wherever. Still hesitated on occasion as I didn't know any of the drivers (as evident in the second video when I'm stuck behind the 911). Great track!
Best Lap: 2:14.01

@Dave-ROR how 'bout an update to the initial post? ;)

Track: Road Atlanta

Nice Raul! Good times! If I read the description right, you're just mainly running power mods and 245 RS3's. No coilovers or anything else crazy? Definitely gave me some motivation to get after it next time I'm there. :burnrubber:

Coilovers are Feal 441s, but yeah, nothing crazy. Forgot to add those in the description (updated). Our cars handle fine, spend all the points you can in power, then the rest on suspension, but power helps this car the most out in stock form. So a good exhaust system and e85 goes a long way.

Cool! Are you maxing out the 19 points possible before you're bumped a class or do you still have a fee points to play with? Any thoughts on moving to r comps and downsizing tire size to compensate for points?

I'm currently at 19 but 4 of that is my 5AD lip spoiler so I'm truly at 15. I've thought about downsizing the tire and going to an R-Compound, yes. But with a brand new set of RS3s I'll end up doing that later in the season.
