Thoughts on car community

SouthrnFresh posted this today and I think it's something that warrants a share on here. Our community has been by and large more supportive than some of the other forums I frequent, but I've seen enough flaming and negativity that I think it's something we can all be mindful of.

Good thoughts. I do see a lot of negativity on some car internet boards, but this one seems pretty tame IMO.

Good article. From what I've heard the Subaru WRX forums are horrible, I'm hoping that this forum stays relatively friendly :) The only case of all out flaming I've seen has been on the guy who put 20's on his FR-S...personal taste, y'all, respect it.

Typical forum behavior. As a "senior member" (how did I get that title? I've been on here since March), all I ask is that you use the search feature, young Padawans. If you don't find what you're looking for, the rest of us are happy to help.

In regards to flaming, I try to hold my tongue in most instances, but if I don't like someone's car or approach to modding/driving/general behavior, I'm gonna tell them. I'll tell them in the nicest way possible, but they're gonna know. Freedom of speech, ma dudes!

Good read.

Everyone can help keep the community here a respectful and supportive one by using the report post feature for any disrespectful, insulting, or derogatory beahvior/posts you may come across. Thanks!

Yeah, luckily our forum is really good about being friendly and respectful. I posted the link as much to say thank you to everyone who already makes this a good place to share ideas as to remind everyone how things are elsewhere. Hopefully it'll stay this way.

If you think the forums are bad you should read the facebook comments i see on pages like StanceNation, Version2Labratory, etc some people get extremely worked up and 95% of them don't have a clue what they are talking about.

^^ So true ^^ The misinformation on some of those is absolutely staggering. I usually try to steer way clear of those, lest a keyboard war ensue...

Yeah but some peoples builds are just rediculous.

Best thing to do is to stop being a fan boy and acknowledge the short comming of the car. Also to stop bragging how good it is when it has several faults.

Anytime you acknowledge someone's opinion, it pretty much stops any flame war.
Anytime you acknowledge someone's opinion, it pretty much stops junk threads from being created dead at the first few post.

Then members can concentrate on compliments and helping each other, including informing those who are not ware of the real great features of the twins :).

So far i think this is a great board, people are not taking opinions to heart and other than the F/I board its very chill.

I hope it stays this way as the board grows

while i frequent these forums alot and its my fav out of all the gt86 forums we are still the same people that the article points out. i see a lot of flaming based on other peoples styles and preference of there cars. and new guys with questions always get bashed :( ive been a vicitim of that having been interested in cars for less than a year. i know theres a search key but maybe they want fresh answers.
we just have to learn to police each other and handle situations better.

i think when someone sees the culture as being a smartass to each other, the person who'd normally be nice will just be an asshole to be like everyone else. fortunately, this place has minimal issues w/ that besides some threads here and there.
