Opti-Guard Question
Hello,
I recently got my Raven FR-S a couple weeks ago and have a question about Opti-Guard and how well things can be mounted on top of it. I'm planning to get a rear Five Axis spoiler but as of now...a spoiler takes about 6 weeks to arrive from the time I order it. From reading all the posts, it's best that I get my car Opti-Guarded as soon as possible because of paint corrections and etc. My question is should I wait until after I install my spoiler and get everything Opti-Guarded or get it Opti-Guarded first and install the spoiler after? Would the 3M mounting tape be able to stick to the Opti-Guarded surface? I'm open to any comments and suggestions. Please help me with my dilemma! |
It will be fine, you should do it first to help avoid it scratching your paint. Get your guy to do the spoiler once you've installed it too.

The adhesive on those 3M are SUPER strong... Even with Opti-coat/Opti-guard bonded to your paint, it will stick on and hold nicely. :)
I got my JDM Toyota window visors stuck on there even with the Opti-coat application... Been driving through highways for about a month now and they're not going anywhere. |
I would say Opti-Coat it now. Less correction work as you mentioned. The 3m tape should hold to it as stated above.
If you're that concerned, you could compound / polish by hand the small area where the tape would make contact. this should remove the coating. then IPA to remove any polishing oils. but I wouldn't sweat it too much. post some pics after the spoiler install |
Thank you for all your helpful insights! I will do just that =D

Get it OC now and then make sure then they install the wing, MAKE SURE THEY DON'T GIVE YOU A FREE WASH! they will likely undo all the good work on the paint.
