Taillight Condensation Issues... Again...
My FR-S is 6 months old this week. Just over 15k miles.
My first Passenger taillight lasted about 2 months before it started leaking. By the time they got the new light in for me (almost 2 months) it was holding 1.5" - 2" of water inside the light. Now the new one started last week taking in condensation. They ordered another new one Saturday when I took it in for my oil change. My only fear is... what do I do come summer time when I am out of factory warranty, and another 2 taillights deep in this mess???? If a Light is $300+ and lasts 2 months tops... I don't wanna keep paying for Toyota's mistake. I love the car and this is honestly my only complaint. Does anyone know if the Subaru BRZ taillights are having the same issues???? |
When you go back in again, talk to both the service manager and the guy who will be installing the lamp. You need to make sure they understand there is one and only ONE way to properly install the new assembly by tightening the screws in a very specific order and to a very specific torque.
Print out the TSB found here and go through it with them paying close attention to page 10: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21868 $100 says they tightened the screws in the wrong order(using the standard star pattern), or ignored the torquing part. |
I will print that and take it with me. Thank you.
