Windshield wiper mark?
Hi all,
I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but since day 1 that I've had my BRZ I have 2 vertical lines where the wipers end and start to return back to normal position. I'm going to try and take a picture tomorrow. You can really tell when it is raining. The water will bead off the 2 vertical lines. Very strange. I hope my windshield is not damaged or scratched. I ran my finger down the lines and felt no scratches. Does anyone have or had experience with this? And what the solution is? I hope I don't need to replace my windshield. Unless the dealer pays for it. I got it this way and am just really bothering me now after I tried to get it off. Thanks! |
will be interesting to see you images to try and know for sure. My inital guess is that the cheap coating they put on the glass is wearing off.

I had streaking on my car glass when it was new and used one of the scotch pads along with windex to get all the flaws off. Things have been good every since. As an added note, a guy on our forum who has done pdi work at dealerships states not to use anything abrasive on the mirrors as they will scratch.

I have this on mine also.

So I know it is dark but this is the best that I can get so far. Frost on the windshield but it looks the same with rain as well. Hope this explains more than what I try to describe. This is the driver's side of the windshield.

I had the same problem and I fixed it by putting rain-x on the windshield

You have a little area that seems to be hydrophobic for some reason (repel water). There might have been chemical exposure on the wiper blade or windshield at some point. I Always use Rain-X and the guy ^^^ said it's the fix. Plus you wont use up your wiper blades as fast.

Thanks guys. I'll do that this weekend. Thanks again for all your help!

brand new wiper blades will do this also, they have some kind of coating on them that can be smeared on the windscreen. Always clean blades with diluted IPA/Water mix before use or as maintenance procedures. That should clean up easy.

Aquapel smokes rainx fyi. If you ever scratch the window you can polish it out with carpro ceriglass.

Well the rain-x didn't work, but my Dad rubbed his thumb over the 2 lines and was able to rub the coating off. So strange...but I'm relieved it wasn't a scratch on the glass. Thanks again for everyone's help on this!

I have this problem as well, I tried IPA, Orange Clean, Coke, Windex, RainX Windshield cleaner and still can't get this off. When I run my nail over it, it isn't smooth, and rubbing the mark with my thumb did nothing...
Any more suggestions that doesn't require treating the windshield with rainx? |
